Freya wants to use her debit card to purchase a $135 tablet computer. What must Freya consider before using her debit card? Check all that apply. She must be sure there is at least $135 in her bank account for the purchase. Out of the choices given, this is the only one that truly applies when using a debit card to make a purchase. Since a debit card is being used, there is no interest rate on the purchase. Although making sure automatic payments are scheduled and enough funds are present is a must, it wouldn't happen until after the first step of having the money is there. Since Freya is not financing the laptop, her credit history is not important nor is making monthly payments with a debit card.

She must me sure that she has at least $135 in her bank check and automatic payments. She shouldn't check the interest rate because debit cards don't carry a balance and there is no monthly payments.

marissa [1.9K]

The common flaw that was found in research funded by pharmaceutical companies was a lack of transparency.

Why is transparency needed in the pharmaceutical industry?

It is essential that there is greater awareness, control and review of pharmaceutical research, as this industry directly impacts the health and quality of life of individuals, and must be an ethical and accessible means to the population.

Therefore, the lack of transparency in the pharmaceutical industry can occur due to centralization and conflict of interests, in addition to bribery and fraud, and must be duly fought by control, legislation and punishment for such actions.

Ocean Gate sells external hard drives for $200 each. Its total fixed costs are $30 million, and its variable costs per unit are
Angelina_Jolie [31]

Answer:

What is the firm's degree of operating leverage?

the degree of operating leverage measures the proportion of fixed costs vs. variable costs

total fixed costs = $30,000,000

contribution margin per hard drive = selling price - variable cost = $200 - $140 = $60

tax rate = 30%

expected sales = 2,000,000 hard drives

degree of operating leverage = contribution margin / (total sales - total costs) = (2,000,000 x $60) / ($400,000,000 - $280,000,000 - $30,000,000) = $120,000,000 / $90,000,000 = 1.33

DOL = 1.33

If the economy enters a recession, what will be the firm's after tax profit?

firm's EBIT = total revenue - variable costs - fixed costs

 • total revenue = 1,000,000 x $200 = $200,000,000
 • total variable costs = 1,000,000 x $140 = $140,000,000
 • total fixed costs = $30,000,000

EBIT = $200,000,000 - $140,000,000 - $30,000,000 = $30,000,000

firm's after tax profit = EBIT x (1 - tax rate) = $30,000,000 x (1 - 30%) = $21,000,000

firm's after tax profit = $21,000,000
