Answer:

I₀ = 0.2 mA

Explanation:

  • Just after being connected, as the voltage between plates of a capacitor can't change instantanously, the initial voltage through the capacitor must be zero, so it presents like a short to the battery.
  • So, in these circumstances, as the battery only "sees"a resistor, the initial current can be found applying Ohm's law to the resistor, as follows:

        V = I_{0}*R \\\\   I_{0}  = \frac{V}{R}  = \frac{1.50V}{7.71e3\Omega} = 0.2 mA

  • The initial current (that will be diminishing as the capacitor charges), is 0.2 mA.

Answer:

0.19mA

Explanation:

Given;

Capacitor of capacitance = 4.07 μF

Resistor of resistance = 7.71 kΩ = 7.71 x 1000Ω  = 7710Ω

Voltage = 1.50V

Since the capacitor is initially uncharged, it behaves like a short circuit. Therefore, the only element drawing current at that instant is the resistor. This means that the initial current in the circuit is the one due to (flowing through) the resistor.

And since there is negligible internal resistance, the emf of the battery is equal to the voltage supplied by the battery and is used to supply current to the resistor. Therefore, according to Ohm's law;

V = I x R           ---------------(i)

Where;

V = voltage supplied or the emf

I = current through the resistor

R = resistance of the resistor

Substitute the values of V and R into equation (i) as follows;

1.50 = I x 7710

I = \frac{1.5}{7710}

I = 0.00019A

Multiply the result by 1000 to convert it to milliamperes as follows;

0.00019 x 1000 mA = 0.19mA

Therefore, the initial current in the circuit, expressed in milliamperes is 0.19

If the mass of an object is 44 kilograms and its velocity is 10 meters per second east, how much Kinetic Energy does it have?
olya-2409 [2.1K]
Given: Mass m = 44 Kg;      Velocity v = 10 m/s

Required: Kinetic energy K.E = ?

Formula: K.E = 1/2 mv²

               K.E 1/2 (44 Kg)(10 m/s)²

               K.E = 2,200 Kg.m²/s²

A nonzero net force acts on a particle and does work. Which one of the following statements is true?
arlik [135]

Answer:

option (D) is correct.

Explanation:

According to the work energy theorem, the work done by all forces is equal to the change in kinetic energy of the body.

the kinetic energy of a body is directly proportional to the square of the speed of the body.

As the kinetic energy change, the speed of the body also change.

Option (D) is correct.

Does the air exert a buoyant force on all objects in air or only on objects such as balloons that are very light for their size?
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

Solution:-

Buoyancy is the force that causes objects to float. It is the force exerted on an object that is partly or wholly immersed in a fluid. Buoyancy is caused by the differences in pressure acting on opposite sides of an object immersed in a static fluid. It is also known as the buoyant force. Buoyancy is the phenomena due to Buoyant Force.

It is as an upward force exerted by a fluid that opposes the weight of an object immersed in a fluid. As we know, the pressure in a fluid column increases with depth. Thus, the pressure at the bottom of an object submerged in the fluid is greater than that at the top. The difference in this pressure results in a net upward force on the object which we define as buoyancy.

- The formula for buoyant force (Fb) is given:

                           Fb = ρ*g*V

- The force acts on all objects. However, it depends on the fluid density and amount of volume displaced.

- The Buoyant force exerted by air with density = 1.225 kg/m^3 on an object with volume (V) is:

                          Fb = ρ*g*V = 1.225*9.81*V = 12.02*V

- For the similar object with mass (m), the downward weight would be:

                           W = m*g

- For the object to float the buoyant force (Fb) must be greater than weight of the object:

                          Fb > W

                          12.02*V > m*9.81

                          V / m > 0.816

- The ratio of V / m must be at-least = 0.816.

- Assuming the object is fully immersed in air, then the volume displaced V = ρ_material*V

                         ρ_material < 1 / 0.816

                        ρ_material < 1.225 or ( ρ_air )

- So the for an object to float in air its material density must always be less than that of air. That why in balloons lighter gas is used which have density less than that of air like Helium.
