A certain lightbulb has a tungsten filament with a resistance of 26 Ω when cold and 170 Ω when hot. If the equation R = R0 [1 +

α ∆T] can be used over the large temperature range involved here, find the temperature of the filament when it is hot. Assume that α , the temperature coefficient of resistivity of tungsten, is 0.0045 (◦C)−1 and that the temperature of the cold filament is 40◦C. Answer in units of ◦C

Answer:

Explanation: The equation that relates resistance of tungsten at different temperatures is as follows

R = R₀ [1 + α ∆T]  , R₀ is resistance at lower temperature , R is resistance at higher temperature . α is temperature coefficient of resistivity and ∆T is rise in temperature .

Putting the values

170 = 26 [1 + .0045 ∆T]

∆T = 1230.75

lower temperature = 40◦C

higher temperature = 1230 + 40

= 1270◦C

Referring to the given diagram, we will find that the percentage of sand in silt is given on the base of the triangle.
The amount of sand is almost 50% of silt. Representing this on the percentage line, we will find that the percentage of sand is somewhere between the 40% and the 60%.

Based on the above, the best choice would be:
c. 40 percent to 60 percent

evablogger [386]

Answer:

5m

Explanation:

Using Pythagoras theorem,

a^2+ b^2=c^2

3^2+4^2=c^2

25=c^2

√(25)=c

what is the magnitude of the gravitational force acting on the earth due to the sun? express your answer in newtons.
Alborosie

The gravitational force the sun experiences from the earth is 3.48×10²²N, which is exactly the same as the force the sun experiences from the earth.

  • Gravity is a force that develops as a result of the attraction between mass-containing objects. The mass of the object has a direct relationship to the strength of this attraction. r equals the separation of two objects.

F = G (M₁M₂)/r²

Where, F  the gravitational force

G=6.67×10⁻¹¹Nm²kg⁻² gravitational constant

M₁=5.98×10²⁴kg  mass of earth

M₂= 1.99×10³⁰ kg the mass of the sun

r =15×10¹⁰ m is the distance between sun and earth

Putting all the values in above equation,

F = 6.67×10⁻¹¹Nm²kg⁻²(5.98×10²⁴kg 1.99×10³⁰ kg)/15×10¹⁰ m

On solving the above equation we get,

F = 3.48×10²²N
