the width of a rectangle is 2/3 the length. the perimeter of the rectangle is 15 centimeters. what is the length of the rectangl
tester [92]
Lenght is 4 1/2 cm
P=2L +2W
15cm = 2L + 2(2/3L)
15cm = 2L + 4/3L
15cm = 2 4/3 L
15cm ÷ 2 4/3  = 2 4/3L ÷ 2 4/3
4 1/2cm = L

Check
P=2L +2W
P=2(4.5) +2(3)
15= 9 +6
15=15

Find the minimum or maximum value of the function g(x)= -(x-2)^2-3
Nady [450]
Neato

assuming you mean
g(x)=-1(x-2)^2-3
remember
in form
f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k
a is leading coficient
(h,k) is vertex
k will be the minimum or max value of the function
if a is positive, then the parabola opens up and k is minimum
if a is negative, then the parabola opens down and k is max

given
g(x)=-1(x-2)^2-3
a is negative
the parabola opens down and k is the max value
it is -3
the max value is -3, which occors at x=2
g(2)=-3 is max

Indicate the equation of the line meeting the given conditions. Please put the equation in standard form. Containing A (1, 3) an
wolverine [178]
A line through two points A, B can be found by the point-slope form of the formula:

(y-ya)=m(x-xa)............(1)
and
m=(yb-ya)/(xb-xa).......(2)

where A(xa,ya), B(xb,yb) and m is the slope between points A & B.

Substituting
A(xa,ya)=A(1,3)
B(xb,yb)=B(0,2)

From (2)
m=(yb-ya)/(xb-xa)
=(2-3)/(0-1)
=-1/(-1)
=1

Substitute in (1)  : (y-ya)=m(x-xa)
y-3=1(x-1)
Distribute and simplify
y=x-1+3=x+2
or
y=x+2  .................(3a) equation required in slope-intercept form

x-y+2=0...............(3b) equation in standard form
