The pattern of progressing grief will be uneven, unpredictable, and unique with no specific time frame. The better you know, the better is the coping with it. In the beginning there are  lots of adjustments and will be like running after us at the end, we can learn to run from it. When there is understanding what is happening and what to expect there is a feeling of in control of one's grief and will become a better person to take care of it, finding one's way through loss and begin rebuilding life.
