Answer:

Iodine has more electron levels (rings) than fluorine.

Explanation:

On the periodic table,  fluorine is on period 2 so it has 2 outer rings, iodine is on period 5 so it has 5 outer rings. The more rings the higher radius.

Which of the following oils would consume the greatest number of equivalents of hydrogen when subject to catalytic hydrogenation
Murljashka [212]

Answer: Option (B) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

When a fatty acid contains high number of double bonds then its unsaturation will also be high and hence, it will consume greater number of equivalents of hydrogen.

In corn oil, there are no unsaturated sites are present.

In olive oil, there is one unsaturated site with majority of oleic acid. In olive oil, there are more than 70% of total unsaturated oils.

In lard oil, there are around 60% of unsaturated oils.

In herring oil, there are highest number of saturated fatty acids and lowest polyunsaturated acids.

Thus, we can conclude that out of the given options, olive oils would consume the greatest number of equivalents of hydrogen when subject to catalytic hydrogenation.

What is the definition of to squeeze a gas into a smaller space
ollegr [7]
I think the best word here would be compress. It is to compress that is defined as to squeeze a gas into a smaller space. Compression is the reduction of volume which cause an increase in pressure of the gas. Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.

How does air above a heated surface move?
anzhelika [568]
<span> When air is warmed up, its molecules move faster and faster and as a result they move further from each other. They still have the same mass, but they now occupy a larger volume. This means that its density is smaller.
The opposite when air is cooled off. The molecules slow down, get closer together, occupy a smaller volume and therefore its density is bigger.

When air is warmed up, it goes up. Once it's up there, is cools off and goes back down. Near the heated surface the air gets warmed up again, goes up, cools down, goes back down, and again and again.
that is called convection cells

Under certain conditions Argon gas diffuses at a rate of 3.2 cm per second under the same conditions an unknown gas diffuses at
kozerog [31]

Answer:

20 g/mol

Explanation:

We can use <em>Graham’s Law of diffusion</em>:

The rate of diffusion (<em>r</em>) of a gas is inversely proportional to the square root of its molar mass (<em>M</em>).

r = \frac{1 }{\sqrt{M}}

If you have two gases, the ratio of their rates of diffusion is

\frac{r_{2}}{r_{1}} = \sqrt{\frac{M_{1}}{M_{2}}}

Squaring both sides, we get

(\frac{r_{2}}{r_{1}})^{2} = \frac{M_{1}}{M_{2}}

Solve for <em>M</em>₂:

M_{2} = M_{1} \times (\frac{r_{1}}{r_{2}})^{2}

M_{2} = \text{39.95 g/mol} \times (\frac{\text{3.2 cm/s}}{\text{4.5 cm/s}})^{2}= \text{39.95 g/mol} \times (0.711 )^{2}

= \text{39.95 g/mol} \times 0.506 = \textbf{20 g/mol}
