Mrs. Simpson’s calculus class has an exam with an average score of 80 and standard deviation of 15. Assume that exam scores are

Answer:

93 is the exam score needed in order to get the A grade in Mrs Simpson’s test

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the score that gives an A grade

Mathematically from the z-score formula, we know that;

z-score = x-mean/SD

From the question, x = ? , mean = 80 and SD = 15

Thus;

z-score = x-80/15

But in this question, we have the probability but we do not have the z-score

So we need the z-score that is equivalent to 20%

20% is same as 0.2

Using the standard normal distribution table, a probability of 0.2 corresponds to a z-score of 0.84

Thus, mathematically;

0.84 = x-80/15

x-80 = 15(0.84)

x-80 = 12.6

x = 80 + 12.6

x = 92.6 which is approximately 93

Complete each statement. An event with a probability of 0 is An event with a probability of 1 is
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

An event with a probability of 0 is impossible.

An event with a probability of 1 is certain.

Step-by-step explanation:

Probability is typically expressed in terms of a fraction between 0 and 1 where the denominator is the total number of outcomes and the numerator is the number of desired outcomes. Since probability is expressed as a fraction, if the probability is 0, that means it is impossible, or there is no chance that the event can happen. However, if the probability is 1, that means that the event is certain to happen and the odds are completely in your favor that the event will happen.

A county's population in 1991 was 147 million. In 1998 it was 153 million. Estimate the population in 2017 using the exponential
aliina [53]
Let t=number of years since 1991.
Then
P(t)=147 e^(kt) ... in millions
P(0)=147 e^(0)=147
P(7)=147 e^(7k)=153
e^(7k)=(153/147)
take ln both sides
ln(e^(7k))=ln(153/147)
7k=0.0400 => k=0.005715

Year 2017=>t=2017-1991=26
P(26)=147e^(26*.005715)=170.55
Answer: in 2017, the projected population is 170.55 millions.

Expression is equivalent to 486 – 9 + 6 + 33 × 2
mojhsa [17]

Answer:

 549

Step-by-step explanation:

A calculator can give you an equivalent expression.

I might work from the middle outward:

 = 486 -3 +33×2

 = 483 +66

 = (480 +60) + (3 +6)

 = 540 + 9

 = 549

Which equation is solved for the variable h? v=by/3
max2010maxim [7]
The equation is given as: v=by/3 but it is actually v=bh/3

Ans, now, we need to solve this for variable h.

So, v=bh/3
On cross multiplying, we get,
3 × v = bh
On dividing the complete equation by "b" we get,
(3×v) / b = (bh)/b

or (3×v) / b = h

Thus, the value of h is : 3v/b
