A body was found at 10 a.m. in a warehouse where the temperature was 40F. The medical examiner found the temperature of the body

to be 80F. What was the approximate time of death? Use Newton’s law of cooling, with k=0.1947.

Newton's law of cooling states that under forced convection (which is assumed to be true), then
dT(t)/dt = -k(T(t)-Ta)..............(1)
T(t)=temperature
Ta=ambient temperature=40F
k=cooling constant = 0.1947
T(0)=98.6F (assuming victim did not have fever)
Integrate (1)
T(t)-Ta=(T(t)-T(0))e^(-kt)
Solve for t
(T(t)-Ta)/(T(t)-T(0)) = e^(-kt)
take log:
-kt=log_e((T(t)-Ta)/(T(t)-T(0)))
substitute T(t)=80F, Ta=40F,T(0)=98.6F
-kt=log_e((80-40)/(98.6-40))=-0.38186
t=0.38186/0.1947
=1.96, or almost 2 hours   (assuming k=0.1947 is in hours)

PLEASE HELP!! I need this completed ASAP but I don't understand any of it!! It's due very soon!
lidiya [134]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a) you know interest is 22 and principal is 1000 and number of months is 1

b) I = rPm

   r = I/Pm

c) r = 22 / 1000(1) = 0.022 /month or 2.2% per month

or 12(0.022) = 0.264 or 26.4 % per year.

d) interest is $15, loan period is 2 weeks which occurs once during the loan, interest rate is 10% per two weeks.

P = I/rm

e) P = 15 / 0.10 = $150

Notice that there are 52 weeks/yr / 2week loan period = 26 period in a year.

This means that the APR is 0.10(26) = 2.60 or 260% annual interest rate. Pretty good return on investment if you are the lender and can keep your money lent out. Not so good if you are the borrower.

If 7x - 4y = 23 and x + y = 8, what is the value of x?
Margaret [11]

Answer:

x=5

Step-by-step explanation:

7x - 4y = 23 and x + y = 8

Multiply the second equation by 4

4x + 4y = 32

Add this to the first equation

7x - 4y = 23

4x + 4y = 32

------------------------

11x    = 55

Divide each side by 11

11x/11 = 55/11

x = 5
