No this is not reasonable at all! 300 millimeters is basically nothing. 300 millimeters is equal to 0.00018641 miles which is not much at all. instead of using millimeters, which are too small to measure distance, she could use feet since she is walking to school each day.

No,this is not reasonable because 1000 millimeters are in ONE meter. One meter is about three feet. Unless Carly lives in school, then no, this is not reasonable.

Find the minimum sample size necessary to be 99% confident that the population mean is within 3 units of the sample mean given t
SVEN [57.7K]

Answer:

The minimum sample size required is 207.

Step-by-step explanation:

The (1 - <em>α</em>) % confidence interval for population mean <em>μ</em> is:

CI=\bar x\pm z_{\alpha /2}\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

The margin of error of this confidence interval is:

MOE=z_{\alpha /2}\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}

Given:

MOE=3\\\sigma=29\\z_{\alpha /2}=z_{0.01/2}=z_{0.05}=2.576

*Use a <em>z</em>-table for the critical value.

Compute the value of <em>n</em> as follows:

MOE=z_{\alpha /2}\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}}\\3=2.576\times \frac{29}{\sqrt{n}} \\n=[\frac{2.576\times29}{3} ]^{2}\\=206.69\\\approx207

Thus, the minimum sample size required is 207.

Given that the two triangles are similar, solve for x if AU = 20x + 108, UB = 273, BC = 703, UV = 444, AV = 372 and AC = 589.
Damm [24]
The answer:
<span>the two triangles are similar
in addition, the line UV is parallel to line BC, so we can use the theorem of Thales for proving the following ratios:

AV /AC = AU/ AB= UV/ BC
372/589=20x +80  / AB = 444 / 703

</span>so we get    (372/589) AB - 80 =  20x, and x = ( (372/589) AB - 80  ) / 20

exact value of x depends on the value of AB
