Chemistry

Answer:

3,3—Dimethyl—1—butyne

OR

3,3—Dimethylbut—1—yne

Explanation:

The structure of the compound can also be in this form:

HC≡C—C(CH3)2—CH3

So to name the compound we:

1. Locate the longest continuous carbon chain i.e butene

2. Identify the substituents attached to the chain i.e two CH3 group

3. Since the functional group here is the triple bond, we start counting from the side that gives the triple bond the lowest low count i.e from the left side. We must also indicate the position of the triple bond in the name.

4. Now we combine all from the above to get the name.

So, the name of the compound is 3,3—Dimethyl—1—butyne. This can also be written as 3,3—Dimethylbut—1—yne

Any of the two is correct.

When a substance such as salt is dissolved in water, it is said to enter into the _____ state.
Lunna [17]
Water can dissolve salt because the positive part of water molecules attracts the negative chloride ions and the negative part of water molecules attracts the positive sodium ions. The amount of a substance that can dissolve in a liquid (at a particular temperature) is called the solubility of the substance.

Is there any evidence that methanol forms ions either in the pure state or when dissolved in water?
worty [1.4K]
According to research, the answer is no. Although alcohol is dissolves in water solution but dissociation of methyl alcohol in into ions is barely not possible. Thus, methanol is considered as a non-electrolyte.

Another name for light is
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]

Answer:

Another name for light is ¨Electromagnetic Radiation, luminous energy, and/or radiant energy.¨

Explanation:

Light is the electromagnetic radiation that´s capable of causing a visual sensation and has wavelengths from about 380 to about 780 nanometres. Electromagnetic radiation includes Radio Waves, Microwaves (used in microwaves), Infrared Radiation (heat), Visible Light (the colors we see), Ultraviolet (the UV radiation that causes sunburns), X-Rays (used in medical X-Rays), and Gamma Rays (which can be used to treat cancer). Light waves are transverse waves because they only travel east or west, but their crests and troughs face north and south (if desplayed on a coordinate grid). They wouldn´t be longitudinal waves because these waves don´t have vertical crests and troughs.

I hope this helps!

How many grams are needed to form 33.6 L of carbon dioxide
pychu [463]
It depends of the temperature and the pressure. If temperature and pressure are standard 1 mol forms 22.4 liter. So 33.6 liters form 33.6/22.4 = 1.5 mols.

Now calculate the molar mass of carbon dioxide: 12 g/mol + 2x16 g/mol = 44 g/mol

The mass of the 1.5 mols is 1.5mol * 44 g/mol = 66 g.
