48x0.2= $9.6
$48-9.6=$38.40 Her friend is incorrect.
40/48 =0.83 or about 83% So, in this case she only got 17% off. :)

How do i solve this problem
Vladimir79 [104]
Solve the following system:
{6 t - 5 s = -4 | (equation 1)
{-r - 4 s + 3 t = -4 | (equation 2)
{-2 r - 4 s - 4 t = -9 | (equation 3)

Swap equation 1 with equation 3:
{-(2 r) - 4 s - 4 t = -9 | (equation 1)
{-r - 4 s + 3 t = -4 | (equation 2)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 3)
Subtract 1/2 × (equation 1) from equation 2:
{-(2 r) - 4 s - 4 t = -9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 2 s + 5 t = 1/2 | (equation 2)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 3)
Multiply equation 1 by -1:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 2 s + 5 t = 1/2 | (equation 2)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 3)
Multiply equation 2 by 2:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 4 s + 10 t = 1 | (equation 2)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 3)
Swap equation 2 with equation 3:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 2)
{0 r - 4 s + 10 t = 1 | (equation 3)
Subtract 4/5 × (equation 2) from equation 3:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 2)
{0 r+0 s+(26 t)/5 = 21/5 | (equation 3)

Multiply equation 3 by 5:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 2)
{0 r+0 s+26 t = 21 | (equation 3)
Divide equation 3 by 26:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 5 s + 6 t = -4 | (equation 2)
{0 r+0 s+t = 21/26 | (equation 3)
Subtract 6 × (equation 3) from equation 2:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r - 5 s+0 t = (-115)/13 | (equation 2)
{0 r+0 s+t = 21/26 | (equation 3)
Divide equation 2 by -5:
{2 r + 4 s + 4 t = 9 | (equation 1)
{0 r+s+0 t = 23/13 | (equation 2)
{0 r+0 s+t = 21/26 | (equation 3)
Subtract 4 × (equation 2) from equation 1:
{2 r + 0 s+4 t = 25/13 | (equation 1)
{0 r+s+0 t = 23/13 | (equation 2)
{0 r+0 s+t = 21/26 | (equation 3)
Subtract 4 × (equation 3) from equation 1:
{2 r+0 s+0 t = (-17)/13 | (equation 1)
{0 r+s+0 t = 23/13 | (equation 2)
{0 r+0 s+t = 21/26 | (equation 3)
Divide equation 1 by 2:
{r+0 s+0 t = (-17)/26 | (equation 1)
{0 r+s+0 t = 23/13 | (equation 2)
v0 r+0 s+t = 21/26 | (equation 3)
Collect results:Answer:  {r = -17/26
               {s = 23/13                        {t = 21/26

Answer:

0.6x = 87

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi, to answer this question we have to write en equation:

We have to multiply the variable x by the percentage given (60%) in decimal form (divided by 100). That expression must be equal to 87.

Mathematically speaking:

x (60/100) = 87

0.6x = 87

How can you classify the results of operations on real numbers
Jet001 [13]
There are different levels of classification when it comes to numbers. The general classification is between real numbers and imaginary numbers. Imaginary numbers are those with 'i' in them which is equal to √-1. Next, real numbers can be classified as rational or irrational. Irrational numbers are those that can't be expressed into fractions. Lastly, rational numbers are classified into integers and fractions.

PLEASE HELP ive been stuck on this for a long time
Tomtit [17]

Answer:

Below

Step-by-step explanation:

You can use Pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse of a right triangle.

a2 + b2 = c2

The square root of 15 = 3.8729.... (a bunch of other numbers)

4^2 + 3.8729^2 = c2

16 + 15 = 31

Now that you have this, you need to find the square root

The square root of 31 = 5.56775436

Rounding this to the tenth it would be: 5.57

Final answer: C = 5.57

hope this helps! :)
