Well you can make a proportion to see if the values (2 miles in 1/2 hour and 1 mile in 15 minutes) are equal to each other or not.

**We need to convert 15 minutes into hours --> 15 minutes / 60 minutes = 1/4 hour \frac{2 \text{ miles}}{ \frac{1}{2} \text{ hours} }  =  \frac{1 \text{ mile}}{ \frac{1}{4} \text {hour}}

Cross-multiply...
1/2(1) = 2(1/4) <em>*is this true? </em>
1/2 = 2/4 <em /><em>*if you simplify 2/4 by dividing the numerator and denominator by 2 you get 1/2
</em><em />1/2 = 1/2 <em>**this is correct!</em>

So it is true!

2 miles = 1/2 hour (a whole hour is 60 mins so half of that is 30 mins) 1 mile = 15 mins (15 mins is half of 30 mins) so yes its true

Which graph represents a linear function? (4 points)
leonid [27]

Answer:

On the surface, it seems easy. Can you think of the integers for x, y, and z so that x³+y³+z³=8? Sure. One answer is x = 1, y = -1, and z = 2. But what about the integers for x, y, and z so that x³+y³+z³=42?

That turned out to be much harder—as in, no one was able to solve for those integers for 65 years until a supercomputer finally came up with the solution to 42. (For the record: x = -80538738812075974, y = 80435758145817515, and z = 12602123297335631. Obviously.)

How many 16-ounce bottles would be needed to hold the same total amount of water 56 bottles that each holds 20 ounces
snow_lady [41]

70 bottles will hold 16 ounces amount same as 56 bottles hold 20 ounces.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

56 bottles hold 20 ounces each.

Total amount 56 bottles hold= 56x20

Total amount hold by 56 bottles= 1120 ounces

Let the number of 16 ounces bottles be = x

Total amount hold by x bottles = 16x

According to the given statement both amounts are same;

16x=1120\\Dividing\ both\ sides\ by\ 16\\\frac{16x}{16} = \frac{1120}{16} \\x=70

70 bottles will hold 16 ounces amount same as 56 bottles hold 20 ounces.
