Greg swam 4 kilometers against the current in the same amount of time it took him to swim 16 kilometers with the current. The ra
ad-work [718]

Answer:

5 kmph

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Greg swam 4 kilometers against the current.

            Greg swam 16 kilometers with the current.

            Rate of the current was 3kmph.

Lets assume the speed of greg swimming with no current be "x".

∴ Speed of swimming against current= (x-3)\ kmph

   Speed of swimming with current= (x+3)\ kmph

As given, it took same amount of time to swim both with current and against current.

∴ Forming an equation to find the value of x, which is speed of greg swimming with no current.

We know, Time= \frac{Distance}{Speed}

⇒ \frac{4}{(x-3)} = \frac{16}{(x+3)}

Multiplying both side by (x+3) and (x-3)

⇒4\times (x+3)= 16\times (x-3)

Using distributive property of multiplication.

⇒ 4x+12= 16x-48

Subtracting both side by 4x and adding by 48.

⇒60= 12x

Dividing both side by 12

⇒x= \frac{60}{12} = 5\ kmph

Hence, Greg can swim at the rate of 5kmph with no current.

VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

Mean =25.78

Median =20

Step-by-step explanation:

given that the following list contains the average annual total returns (in percentage points) for 9 mutual funds. The mutual funds appear in an online brokerage firm's "all-star" list.

40, 30, 6, 10, 30, 18, 15, 20, 36

Let us find the sum of these 9 entries

Sum = 205

a) Mean = \frac{205}{9} =22.78

b) Median of this data set is the middle entry after arranging in ascending order

Here it would be the 5th entry

6,10, 15, 18,20, 30, 30, 36, 40

Median = 20

The two angles shown are supplementary. Down below
docker41 [41]

Answer:

x = 48

Step-by-step explanation:

If the two angles are supplementary then their sum must be 180 degrees

x + 34 + 2x + 2 = 180

3x + 36 = 180 subtract 36 from both sides

3x = 144 divide both sides by 3

x = 48
