A bat moving at 90 km/h strikes an oncoming ball moving at 110 km/h. If the batter follows through so that the speed of the bat

doesn't change during the hit and the coefficient of restitution of the ball is 0.6, what speed does the batted ball have after it has been struck?

Answer:

The final speed of the ball will be 210 km/h.

Explanation:

Given that

Speed of bat = 90 km/h

u_1=90\ km/h

Speed of ball= 110 km/h

u_2=110\ km/h

Speed of the bat will remain constant

v_1=90\ km/h

Lets speed of the ball after striking the bat is v_2

As we know that coefficient of restitution given as

e=\dfrac{v_2-v_1}{u_1-u_2}

0.6=\dfrac{v_2-90}{90+100}

Both bat and ball are moving in opposite direction before the collision.

0.6=\dfrac{v_2-90}{90+100}

So we can say that

v_2=210\ km/h

The final speed of the ball will be 210 km/h.

What happens to the iron in the coilgun if the electricity in the coil was turned on
Andrews [41]

  • <em><u>The piece of iron has become a magnet. Some substances can be magnetized by an electric current. When electricity runs through a coil of wire, it produces a magnetic field. The field around the coil will disappear, however, as soon as the electric current is turned off.</u></em>

How much electrical energy is used by the river cooker oven rated 800 W ,230 V is switched on for 30 minutes
mariarad [96]

Answer:

E = 1440 kJ

Explanation:

It is given that,

Power of a cooker oven is 800 W

Voltage at which it is operated is 230 V

Time, t = 30 minutes = 1800 seconds

We need to find the electrical energy used by the cooker oven. The product of power and time is equal to the energy consumed. So,

E=P\times t\\\\E=800\ W\times 1800\ s\\\\E=1440000\ J\\\\\text{or}\\\\E=1440\ kJ

So, electrical energy of 1440 kJ is consumed by the cooker oven.

Think Critically Suppose your teacher gave you a slide of an unknown cell. How would you tell whether the cell was from an anima
topjm [15]

Answer:

You will be able to tell whether the unknown cell is from an animal or from a plant through the knowledge of difference between plants and animal cells.

Explanation:

A cell can be defined as the simplest bit of living matter which exhibits a variety of shapes and sizes and that can exist independently.

When a slide of an unknown cell is studied under a microscope, different cell structures would be observed which would be used to conclude if the cell on the slide is a plant or animal cell.

The following features are observed in a plant cell:

--> cellulose cell wall is present

--> Chloroplast is present

--> A large central vacuole is present

--> Centriole is absent

The following features are observed in animal cell:

--> Cellulose cell wall is absent

--> Chloroplast is absent

--> Small vacuoles is present

--> Centriole is present

The difference between a plant and an animal cell can be seen from the features above and a clear knowledge of this will help the student tell whether the unknown cell is from an animal or from a plant.
