The stones are launched from the top of a tall building. One stone is thrown in a direction 15.0 ∘ above the horizontal with a s

Answer:

Maximum horizontal distance covered by both the stones will be same because the speed at which both the stones are thrown is same.

However, stone that is thrown upward will spend more time in the air as compared to the stone that is thrown downward because of the projectile and vertical component of the velocity.

A helicopter lifts a 72 kg astronaut 15 m vertically from the ocean by means of a cable. The acceleration of the astronaut is g/
postnew [5]

Answer:

(a) 1058.4 J

(b) -10584 J

Explanation:

Parameters given:

Mass of astronaut, m = 72 kg

Distance moved by astronaut, d = 15 m

(a) WORK DONE BY FORCE FROM THE HELICOPTER

Work done is given as the product of Force applied to a body and the distance moved by the body:

W = F * d

The force from the helicopter is given as:

F = m * a

where a = acceleration of the astronaut due to the helicopter

Therefore, the work done is given as:

W = m * a * d

W = 72 * g/10 * 15

W = \frac{72 * 9.8 * 15}{10}

W = 1058.4 J

(b) WORK DONE BY FORCE OF GRAVITY

W = F * d

The force of gravity is given as:

F = -m * g

where g = acceleration due to gravity

The negative sign is due to the fact that the astronaut moves in an opposite direction (upwards) to the force of gravity (Gravity acts downwards)

Therefore, the work done is given as:

W = -m * g * d

W = -72 * 9.8 * 15

W = -10584 J

You want the output current from the secondary coil of a transformer to be 10 times the input current to the primary coil. The r
WARRIOR [948]

Answer:

D. 0.1

Explanation:

Using transformer equation,

N2/N1 = I1/I2................... Equation 1

Where N2 = secondary coil, N1 = primary coil, I1 = input current, I2 = output current.

make I2  the subject of the equation

I2 = I1/(N2/N1)............ Equation 2

From equation 2 above, For the output current of the secondary coil to be 10 times the input current, N2/N1 = 0.1

Hence the right option is D. 0.1
