To determine athletes body fat, there are weighed first in air and then again while they are completely underwater. It is found

that one athlete weighs 690 N when weighed in air and 42 N when weighed underwater. What is the average density

Answer:

1065 Kgm-3

Explanation:

We can determine the relative density of the athlete from the formula;

Relative density of athlete = weight of athlete in air/upthrust on athlete

Since weight of athlete in air= 690 N

Weight of athlete in water = 42 N

Upthrust on athlete= weight in air - weight in water

Upthrust on athlete= 690 N - 42 N = 648 N

Relative density of athlete= 690 N / 648 N

Relative density of athlete= 1.065

Therefore, average density of the athlete= relative density × density of water = 1.065 × 1000 Kgm-3 = 1065 Kgm-3

Determined to test the law of gravity for himself, a student walks off a skyscraper 180 m high, stopwatch in hand, and starts hi
Sati [7]

Answer:

a)  v₀ = - 164.62 m / s , c) y = 122.5 m

Explanation:

We can solve this exercise using the free fall kinematic relations.

We put our reference system on the floor, so the height of the skyscraper is y₀ = 180m and the floor level is y = 0 m

For the boy

         y = y₀ + v₀ t - ½ g t²

with free fall its initial speed is zero

        y = ½ g t2

For superman

        y = y₀ + v₀ (t-5) - ½ g (t-5)²

how superman grabs the lot just before hitting the ground

we look for the time it takes the boy down

         t = √ (2 y₀ / g)

         t = √ (2 180 / 9,8)

         t = 6.06 s

in the equation for superman, we clear the volume and calculate

         v₀ (t-5) = -y₀ + ½ g (t-5)²

         v₀ (6.06 -5) = -180 + ½ 9.8 (6.06 -5)²

         v₀ 1.06 = -174.49

         v₀ = - 174.49 / 1.06

         v₀ = - 164.62 m / s

the negative sign indicates that the initial speed is down

b) to graph the position of the two we use the table

  t (s)      Y_boy (m)   Y_superman (m)

    0             180                 180

   1              175.1               180

   5              57.5              180

   6                3.6                10.18

see attachment for the two curves

c) calculate the height that falls a lot in the 5 seconds (t = 5)

           y = -1/2 g t²

           y = ½ 9.8 5²

           y = 122.5 m

for this height superman has not yet left the skyscraper, so the boy hits the ground

A milkshake has viscosity of 0.60Pa⋅s. To drink this shake through a straw of diameter 0.56 cm and length 22 cm, you need to red
timama [110]

Answer:

The pressure difference is <em>2.01X10^{4} Pa.</em>

Explanation:

To calculate the pressure difference, we use the fluid-kinetic equation:

<em>Δp = (8μLQ)/(πR⁴)</em>

Step 1: Convert the units of the given terms to SI units:

Diameter = 0.56 cm X (\frac{1 m}{100 cm} = 5.6X10^{-3} m

∴ Radius, R = 5.6X10^{-3} /2=2.8X10^{-3} m

Length, L = 22 cm X (\frac{1 m}{100 cm} = 0.22 m

Volumetric flow rate, Q = 440X10^{-3} L ÷ 2.0 minutes = 220X10^{-3} \frac{L}{min}

220X10^{-3} \frac{L}{min} X \frac{1m^{3} }{1000L} X \frac{1 min}{60 s} = 3.67X10^{-6} \frac{m^{3} }{s}

Step 2: Input the terms into the fluid-kinetic equation:

<em>Δp = (8 X 0.60 X 0.22 X 3.67X10^{-6}) / (3.142 X ((2.8X10^{-3} )^{4})</em>

<em>Δp = 20067.43 Pa = 2.01X10^{4} Pa.</em>

N.B: The pressure difference is lower than the atmospheric pressure (101300 Pa), which means you can drink the milkshake through the straw.
