To form an equation for a straight line, we need the value of gradient and the y-intercept

The formula to find gradient is \frac{S_{xy} }{ S_{xx} }

S_{xy}=∑(xy)- \frac{(∑x)(∑y)}{n}
S_{xy}= 111- \frac{(22)(56)}{8}
S_{xy}= \frac{1232}{8}=-43

S_{xx}=∑x^{2} - \frac{∑x}{n}
S_{xx}=75- \frac{22^{2}} {8}
S_{xx}=14.5

m= \frac{S_{xy}}{S_{xx}}
m= \frac{-43}{14.5}=-2.9≈-3

where m is the gradient

to find c (y-intercept)
c=mean of y-(m)(mean of x)= \frac{56}{8} -(-3)( \frac{22}{8})=15.25≈15

Hence the equation of the straight line is y=-3x+15

$160/5 or $315/9 which is the better deal
professor190 [17]

Answer:

$160/5

Step-by-step explanation:

160/5 would be 32 and 315/9 would be 35. 32 is less than 35 so $160/5 would be the better deal.

A deep sea diver started at sea level (0 feet) and dove at a rate of 5.6 feet per minute. If the diver dove for ½ hour, what rat
Leona [35]

Given:

A deep sea diver started at sea level (0 feet).

Rate of diving = 5.6 feet per minute.

Time = \dfrac{1}{2} hour

To find:

The rational number that represents his position relative to sea level.

Solution:

We know that,

1 hour = 60 minutes

\dfrac{1}{2} hour = 30 minutes

A deep sea diver, dove at a rate of 5.6 feet per minute.

Distance covered in 1 minute = 5.6 feet

Distance covered in 30 minute = 30 × 5.6 feet

                                                    = 168 feet

The diver dove 168 feet in \dfrac{1}{2} hour. Since it is below the sea level, therefore it should be negative.

So, the rational number that represents his position relative to sea level is -168 feet.

Therefore, the correct option is D.

Answer:   \bold{\sqrt[4]{2} }

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

\dfrac{1}{2}\sqrt[4]{32} =\dfrac{1}{2}\sqrt[4]{2\cdot 2\cdot 2\cdot 2\cdot 2}=\dfrac{1}{2}\cdot 2\sqrt[4]{2}=\boxed{\sqrt[4]{2} }

On a farm the number of cows and the number of sheep are in the tatio 6:5 the number of sheep and the number of pigs are in the
Rzqust [24]

Answer:

There are 70 sheep in the farm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

Let c represents the cows, s represents the sheep and p represents the pigs.

The number of cows and the number of sheep are in the ratio 6:5.

\dfrac{c}{s} =\dfrac{6}{5}

c =\dfrac{6s}{5}

The number of sheep and the number of pigs are in the ratio 2:1.

\dfrac{s}{p} =\dfrac{2}{1}

p =\dfrac{s}{2}

The total number is 189.

c+s+p=189

Substitute the value of c and p in above.

\dfrac{6s}{5}+s+\dfrac{s}{2}=189

\dfrac{12s+10s+5s}{10}=189

27s=1890

s=70

Hence, there are 70 sheep in the farm.
