Leokris [45]

Answer:

Both figures have a perimeter of 112 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

Question 5:

You are given a 6-sided shape, but only 4 sides. To find the perimeter, you need to account for the lengths of the other two sides. As all the angles are right angles, the length of the top horizontal side is equal to the combined length of the bottom two horizontal sides. Similarly the length of the left vertical side is equal to the combined length of the right two vertical sides. Because of this, you actually don't need to find the lengths of the unknown sides to answer the question.

This means the perimeter is:

P=(31 \times 2)+(25 \times 2)\\P=62+50\\P=112

Question 6:

Exactly the same process as above. Just double the longest vertical and horizontal sides (since the sum of the corresponding shorter sides is equal). You'll notice the longest horizontal side is 31, and the longest vertical side is 25...exactly the same as the previous question.

Therefore, the perimeter will again be 112 inches.

These two questions illustrate the difference between area and perimeter. Even though the perimeter of the two shapes is the same, the area of the second shape is larger than the area of the first.

Which describes how square S could be transformed to square S prime in two steps? Assume that the center of dilation is the orig
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

The correct option is;

A dilation by a scale factor of Two-fifths and then a translation of 3 units up

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the coordinates of the vertices of square S are

(0, 0), (5, 0), (5, -5), (0, -5)

Given that the coordinates of the vertices of square S' are

(0, 1), (0, 3), (2, 3), (2, 1)

We have;

Length of side, s, for square S is s = √((y₂ - y₁)² + (x₂ - x₁)²)

Where;

(x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂) are the coordinates of two consecutive vertices

When (x₁, y₁) = (0, 0) and (x₂, y₂) = (5, 0), we have;

s = √((y₂ - y₁)² + (x₂ - x₁)²) = s₁ = √((0 - 0)² + (5 - 0)²) = √(5)² = 5

For square S', where (x₁, y₁) = (0, 1) and (x₂, y₂) = (0, 3)

Length of side, s₂, for square S' is s₂ = √((3 - 1)² + (0 - 0)²) = √(2)² = 2

Therefore;

The transformation of square S to S' involves a dilation of s₂/s₁ = 2/5

The after the dilation (about the origin),  the coordinates of S becomes;

(0, 0) transformed to (remains at) (0, 0) ....center of dilation

(5, 0) transformed to (5×2/5, 0) = (2, 0)

(5, -5) transformed to (2, -2)

(0, -5) transformed to (0, -2)

Comparison of (0, 0), (2, 0), (2, -2), (0, -2) and (0, 1), (0, 3), (2, 3), (2, 1) shows that the orientation is the same;

For (0, 0), (2, 0), (2, -2), (0, -2) we have;

(0, 0), (2, 0) the same y-values, (∴parallel to the x-axis)

(2, -2), (0, -2) the same y-values, (∴parallel to the x-axis)

For (0, 1), (0, 3), (2, 3), (2, 1) we have;

(0, 3), (2, 3) the same y-values, (∴parallel to the x-axis)

(0, 1), (2, 1) the same y-values, (∴parallel to the x-axis)

Therefore, the lowermost point closest to the y-axis in (0, 0), (2, 0), (2, -2), (0, -2) which is (0, -2) is translated to the lowermost point closest to the y-axis in (0, 1), (0, 3), (2, 3), (2, 1) which is (0, 1)

That is (0, -2) is translated to (0, 1) which shows that the translation is T((0 - 0), (1 - (-2)) = T(0, 3) or 3 units up

The correct option is therefore a dilation by a scale factor of Two-fifths and then a translation of 3 units up.

I have some questions regarding combinations in finite. Here is my first one I am stumped on:
podryga [215]

We will get the number of possible selections, and then subtract the number less than 25 cents.

We can choose the number of dimes 5 ways 0,1,2,3 or 4.
We can choose the number of nickels 4 ways 0,1,2 or 3.
We can choose the number of quarters 3 ways 0,1, or 2.

That's 5*4*3  = 60 selections

Now we must subtract from the 60 the number of selections of coins that are less than 25 cents. These will involve only dimes and nickels.

To get a selection of coin worth less than 25 cents:
If we use no dimes, we can use 0,1,2  on all 3 nickels.
That's 4 selections less than 25 cents. (that includes the choice of No coins at all in the 60, which we must subtract).

If we use exactly 1 dime , we can use 0,1,2, or all 3 nickels.
That's the 3 combinations less than 25 cents.

And there is 1 other selection less than 25 cents, 2 dimes and no nickels.

So that's 4+3+1 = 8 selections which we must subtract from the 60.

Answer 60-8 = 52 selections of coins worth 25 cents or more.

Crank

Answer:

8 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

If Jackie wants to burn 2000 calories in one week but only burns 250 calories per hour

then, to solve how many hours you have to divide

2000/250= 8

therefor Jackie has to do aerobics for 8 hours that week to burn 2000 calories
