MASS and DISTANCE
The strength of the gravitational force between two objects depends on two factors, mass and distance. the force of gravity the masses exert on each other. If one of the masses is doubled, the force of gravity between the objects is doubled. increases, the force of gravity decreases.

Calculate the maximum mass of carbon dioxide that could be obtained by adding excess hydrochloric acid to 15 g of calcium carbon
lakkis [162]
Begin by writing out the reaction.

HCl + CaCO3  →  CaCl2  +  CO2  + H2O

balance the atoms

2HCl + CaCO3  →  CaCl2  +  CO2  + H2O

since CaCO3 is the limiting reagent we must calculate the number of moles of it present.

We do this by dividing the mass of CaCO3 by its molecular mass.

15 / 100 = 0.15 moles.

since the ratio of CaCO3 to CO2 in the reaction above is 1:1.

Then 0.15 moles of CaCO3 can produce a maximum of 0.15 moles of CO2.

To find the mass of 0.15 moles of CO2 we multiply 0.15 by the molecular mass of CO2.

How does the structureof the cell membrane help the cell regulate water
Tanya [424]
"The major purpose of the cell membrane is to regulate the types of substances that enter the cells and leave the cell, thus, it is a semi permeable structure.
The structure of the cell membrane help the cell in regulating the amount of the water inside the cell because, when the optimum amount of water is inside the cell, the membrane will not allow the pasage of water molecules into the cell again.
And in a situation, where the concentration of substance inside the cell is above the normal concentration, the cell membrane will allow the required amount of water to flow into the cell in order to reduce the concentration.
Also, the phospholipid bilayers that are found in the cell membrane help to regulate water homeostasis of the cell by using its hydrophobic tail to repel water molecules and thus keep them out or inside of the cells."

Explain why a strong attraction occurs between particles as a result of the transfer of an electron from the less electronegativ
iren2701 [21]

Explanation:

When a less electronegative atom comes in contact with more electronegative atom then more electronegative atom tends to attract the electrons from less electronegative atom.

Hence, a partial positive charge is developed on less electronegative atom and it has given an electron. On the other hand, a partial negative charge tends to develop on more electronegative atom due to gain of an electron.

Therefore, due to the presence of these opposite charges a strong force of attraction is exerted on both the atoms. As opposite charges attract each each other and like charges repel each other.

Where does the energy released by an earthquake come from?
Stella [2.4K]

Answer:

The energy released during the sudden ground motion comes from a build up over long periods of time, as a result of tectonic forces within the earth. Plate boundaries are made up of many faults. The edges of these faults are not smooth like a table top but are rough
