A capacitor, C1, consists of two parallel circular plates with radius R and separation of d. A second capacitor, C2, consists of

two parallel circular plates with radius 2R and separation of 2d. If the two capacitors have the same charge on them, what is the ratio of the electric fields between the plates of the capacitors, E1/E2?

Answer:

\frac{E_1}{E_2}= 4

Explanation:

Capacitance C is given by

C= \frac{\epsilon_0A}{d}

A= area of capacitor cross section

d= distance

therefore,

C_1= \frac{\epsilon_0A_1}{d_1}

A_1= πR^2

d_1= d

C_2= \frac{\epsilon_0A_2}{d_2}

A_= π(2R)^2

d_2 = 2d

q= \frac{\epsilon_0A_1}{d_1}V_1

threfore

V_1= \frac{qd_1}{\epsilon_0A_1}

and

V_2= \frac{qd_2}{\epsilon_0A_2}

also we know that E= V/d

⇒\frac{E_1}{E_2}= \frac{V_1}{V_2}\times\frac{d_2}{d_1}

⇒\frac{E_1}{E_2}= \frac{qd_1}{\epsilon_0A_1}\times\frac{\epsilon_0A_2}{qd_2}\times\frac{d_2}{d_1}

= A_1/A_2= \frac{4R^2}{R^2}=4

therefore,

\frac{E_1}{E_2}= 4

Assuming that 50% of the initial kinetic energy of the bullet is converted into thermal energy in the bullet and the specific he
DedPeter [7]

Answer:

\Delta T=\frac{v_{i}^{2}}{4c}

Explanation:

Let the mass of bullet is m, initial velocity of bullet is vi and c be the specific heat of the bullet.

Kinetic energy, K = 1/2 mvi^2

According to the question, 50% of the kinetic energy is equal to the heat energy absorbed by the bullet.

50% of K = mass of bullet x specific heat x rise in temperature

1/4 mvi^2 = m x c x ΔT

\Delta T=\frac{v_{i}^{2}}{4c}

How was Einstein's theory that energy and mass are interchangeable eventually proven to be correct?
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

Stanley Eddington confirmed the theory by his observations and inferences using the solar eclipse

Explanation:

Albert Einstein proposed a theory that energy and mass are interchangeable; termed the theory of special relativity. This can be observed when an object moves with the speed of light. The theory states that all laws in physics are the same for all non-accelerating observers.

Thus,

                      E = mc^{2

This theory could not be proven over many years, therefore it was not fully accepted.

In 1919, Stanley Eddington confirmed the theory by his observations and inferences using solar eclipse. The theory is now very accurate at any given speed when gravitational force tends to zero. This has lead to other observations to prove Einstein's theory.
