Answer:

 • All the gas molecules have the same average kinetic energy at a given temperature, under ideal gas assumption.

Explanation:

The three molecules, HBr, NO₂, and C₂H₆, such as any other gas molecule, under gas ideal assumption, have the same average kinetic energy at a given temperature.

The temperature is a measure of the kinetic energy of the of the particles (atoms or molecules) of a gas matter.

At a given temperature, all the gases have the same average kinetic energy of all gases.

That does not mean that all the particles have the same kinetic energy. This principle is not valid for individual particles. Different particles of a same (or differfen)t gas will have different speeds and consequently their individual kinetic energy will vary.

This principle is derived from the molecular kinetic theory and the mathematical expression for the kinetic energy in terms of temperature is:

 • KE_{avg}=\frac{3}{2}K_BT

Where:

 • KE (avg) = average kinetic energy
 • KB = Boltzman constant
 • T = absolute temperature

Which of the following reasons best explains why water isn
Sholpan [36]

Answer:

the wax is a nonpolar substance that will not mix with polar water

Explanation:

Water is polar by due to the uneven distribution of charge between the hydrogen and oxygen. T=This automatically eliminates options 3 and 4.

Wax on the other hand is a non polar substance. Due to this non polar characteristic, it would not dissolve in water. The correct option is;

- the wax is a nonpolar substance that will not mix with polar water

Why does water float on corn syrup
NISA [10]

Answer:

density.

Explanation:

A cubic centimeter of water weighs 1 gram. Since a cubic centimeter of vegetable oil weighs less than 1 gram, oil will float on water. Corn syrup is more dense than water so 1 cubic centimeter of corn syrup weighs more than 1 gram. Therefore, corn syrup sinks in water.

Lattice energy is ____.
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

(B) the energy required to break apart one mole of an ionic compound into its gaseous ions

Explanation:

Lattice energy is the energy that would be obtained from the formation of an ionic compound from its gaseous ions. Therefore, the reverse process that responds the question would be the energy required to break apart an ionic compound and convert its component atoms into gaseous ions.

Lattice energy provides a measure of the stability of an ionic compound. When the ions bind to form the crystalline structure, heat (energy) is released. To break the ionic compound into the ions that form it, it is necessary to provide an energy equal to that released when formed, i.e. the lattice energy.
