Two pipes with 1 meter diameters join to become one pipe with 2 meter diameter. Water was flowing in first pipe at 500 kg/s and

oil was flowing in the second pipe with average velocity of 0.8 m/s. Oil mass density is 1500 kg/s. What will be the mass flow rate at the exit of the 2 meter diameter pipe?

Answer:

The mass flow rate at the exit of the 2 meter diameter pipe is 1442 kg/s

Explanation:

If the oil is flowing in the 1m diameter pipe at 0.8 m/s, we can calculate the flow as

Q=\bar{v}*A=\bar{v}*(\pi/4*D^{2} )=0.8m/s*0.785m^{2} =0.628m^{3}/s

The mass flow is

M=\rho*Q=1500 kg/m3*0.628m3/s=942kg/s

The mass flow rate at the exit of the 2 meter diameter pipe is

M=M_w+M_o=500 kg/s+942kg/s=1442kg/s

In addition to mass balance, oxidation-reduction reactions must be balanced such that the number of electrons lost in the oxidat
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

OH−(aq), and H+(aq)

Explanation:

Redox reactions may occur in acidic or basic environments. Usually, if a reaction occurs in an acidic environment, hydrogen ions are shown as being part of the reaction system. For instance, in the reduction of the permanganate ion;

MnO4^-(aq) + 8H^+(aq) +5e-------> Mn^2+(aq) + 4H2O(l)

The appearance of hydrogen ion in the reaction equation implies that the process takes place under acidic reaction conditions.

For reactions that take place under basic conditions, the hydroxide ion is part of the reaction equation.

Hence hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion are included in redox reaction half equations depending on the conditions of the reaction whether acidic or basic.

Find the no. Of electron involved in the electro deposition of 63.5g of cu from a solution of cuso4
sp2606 [1]
This is a redox reaction, meaning reduction-oxidation reaction. This represents the reaction in one side of the electrode in an electrolysis set-up. First, we find the oxidation number of Cu in CuSO4:

(ox. # of Cu)+ ox.# of S + 4(ox.# of oxygen) = 0
(ox. # of Cu) + (6) + 4(-2) = 0
ox. # of Cu = 2+

CuSO4 ---> Cu + SO42-
Cu2+ + SO42- ----> Cu + SO42-
Cu2+ -----> Cu + 2e- (net ionic reaction)

The stoichiometric equation would be 2 electrons per mole Copper. Copper has a molar mass of 63.5 g/mol. Then, it would only need 2 electrons.

In the molecule represented by the chemical formula H2SO4, there would be...Select one:a. 1 hydrogen atom.b. 2 hydrogen atoms.c.
REY [17]

Answer:

2 hydrogen atoms.

Explanations:

Given the chemical formula H2SO4,

The compound shows that the formula has 4 atoms of oxygen, one atom of sulfur and 2 hydrogen atoms.

Therefore, the number of hydrogen atom in the molecule H2SO4 is 2 hydrogen atoms.
