Answer:

85 %

Explanation:

Given

The average processing time per unit =30 seconds

Working hour = 8 hrs

Number of items in a container = 240 items

Demand = 1600 units

Time is taken for one container = 5 hrs.

Number of containers being processed = 8

Obtaining the Percentage safety margin of stock

The total items in the containers would be = 240 x 8 =1920 items

No. of items in a container x No of container being processed

= 240 x 8 =1920 items

Since the average wait time would be 5 hrs before processing the first kanban time will account for the five hour wait.

Time taken for first kanban

= 5 hrs. + [(240 x 30)/3600] = 7 hrs.

Time used to process the remaining kanban would be

= (240 x 30) /3600 = 2 hrs

Since the shift is eight hours the time remaining for the second kanban

= 8 hrs -7 hrs = 1 hr

This means that the number of kanbans that would be processed daily per work shift is 1 since the second one cannot be completed.

Therefore the total items produced would be

= 240 x 1 =240 items

Margin of safety stock carried

\frac{1600-240}{1600} x 100 = 85 %

Therefore the percentage safety margin of stock being carried is 85 %

Pera Inc. wishes to issue new bonds. These are 5-year bonds with semi-annual interest; $1,000 par value, and a yield to maturity
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

coupon rate= 13.5%

Explanation:

Giving the following information:

Number of periods= 5*2= 10 semesters

Par value= $1,000

YTM= 0.1/2 = 0.05

Price bond= $1,136

To calculate the coupon rate, first, we need to determine the coupon per semester using the following formula:

Bond Price= coupon*{[1 - (1+i)^-n] / i} + [face value/(1+i)^n]

1,136 = coupon*{[1 - (1.05^-10)] / 0.05} + [1,000/(1.05^10)]

1,136 = coupon*7.722 + 613.91

522.09 = coupon*7.722

$67.61=coupon

Now, the coupon rate:

Coupon= par value*(coupon rate/2)

67.61= 1,000*(coupon rate/2)

67.61= 500coupon rate

0.135=coupon rate

coupon rate= 13.5%

If the expected sales volume for the current period is 7,000 units, the desired ending inventory is 400 units, and the beginning
Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

7,000 units

Explanation:

Calculation for the number of units set forth in the production budget, representing total production for the current period

Using this formula

Number of units =Current period +Ending inventory - Beginning inventory

Where,

Current period =7,000 units

Ending inventory=400 units

Beginning inventory =400 units

Let make plug in the formula above

Number of units =7,000 units + 400 units-400 units

Number of units =7,000 units

Therefore the Number of units will be 7,000 units

A manufacturer of washing machines has expanded its plant and has created excess capacity, just as the general economy has taken
Lostsunrise [7]

Answer:

. b. offer rebates and incentives for customers who purchase washing machines.

Explanation:

Increasing the productive structure of a firm must be carefully planned. There needs to be demand and take into account the expectations of the economy. When a company increases its structure over an inadequate period, the strategy can be fatal, as firms typically go to great lengths to make investments. In the case described, the company now has an idle capacity, ie does not use all its productive infrastructure. This is compounded by the moment of narrated economic crisis. In this situation, the company is most likely to promote price incentives through discounts to stimulate demand for washing machines. Thus, the employer gets a breath to maintain its activities until the economy recovers and she can use all the installed capacity.
