The following statements pertain to the development of the theory of the structure of DNA. Match the statement with the appropri

ate step (observation, hypothesis, experiment designed to test hypothesis) in the scientific method.a. Two strands of DNA wind around one another in a helical structure.b. In a sample of DNA, there are equal amounts of the bases A and T and equal amounts of the bases C and G.c. Answer:

The correct answer will be-

1. Observation-option B.

2. Hypothesis-option A.

3. Experiments- option C.

Explanation:

A scientific method involves various steps to explain a natural phenomenon of nature. It begins with making an observation which leads to asking the scientific question. The researcher does background research and proposes a hypothesis which could be tested through experiments. The experiments could prove or disprove the hypothesis based on the results.

In the given question the observation made is an equal amount of A and T and G and C are observed. It leads to a hypothesis which shows that this could have happened due to the winding of two strands of DNA and the experiments was performed through X-ray diffraction pattern.

Thus, the selected options are the correct answer.

How do trees act as carbon sinks?
Romashka [77]

The best answer is D.

A carbon sink is anything that absorbs more carbon than it produces or releases.

The main carbon sinks found in nature are plants, the ocean and soil.  Plants such as trees capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use it in photosynthesis. Part of this carbon is transferred to soil as the trees and other plants die and decompose.

Due to the effectiveness of trees and other plants as carbon sinks,  the Kyoto protocol proposed that emission reduction can be achieved through absorption of carbon dioxide by these plants.

The solutions in the two arms of this U-tube are separated by a membrane that is permeable to water and glucose but not to sucro
bazaltina [42]

Answer:

Intially the glucose concentration is levelled and then the liquid level in side A will rise.

Explanation:

  • Initially the liquid ob both sides are in isotonic condition.
  • The membrane is permeable to glucose so glucose will diffuse from higher concentration (2 M) to lower concentration (1 M) until the concentration become equal (1.5 M) on both sides.
  • Know, the Side A have 2 M sucrose and 1.5 M glucose and  side B have 1 M glucose and 1 M sucrose.
  • The side A will become hypertonic and side B will become hypotonic and water will start moving from side B to side A.
