The distance between planets varies as they move in their orbits. The minimum distance from the Earth to Mars is about 0.35 AU.

About how many kilometers is that?

The distance between the earth and mars is given as 0.35 AU.

AU stands for astronomical unit. It is the macroscopic unit of distance which is used for distance measurement between celestial bodies.

One astronomical unit is defined as the mean distance between the sun and earth.The distance between earth and sun is approximately 150 million kilometre. Hence -

                                      1 AU=150 *10^6 km

As per the question we have to convert the mean distance between earth and mars from AU unit to kilometre.

The mean distance is given as 0.35 AU

                                                = 0.35*150 *10^6 km

                                                 =52.5*10^6 km

                                                 = 52,500,00 km

The calculated value is approximately close to 55,000,00 km.

Hence option C is right.

When water change into ice it contracts or expand
plz answer fast..
mihalych1998 [28]

Answer:Yes, water indeed expands when it changes form from liquid to solid. And this is because water has a property called “hydrogen bonds”, and these bonds occur between each water molecule. But when water is in a liquid form these hydrogen bonds break more easily and occur less frequently. When the temperature drops the kinetic energy also drops, which in turn makes hydrogen bonds form more frequently. So the water molecules form a lattice, which is less dense than regular liquid water.

PLEASE HELP

TOPIC - CONVECTION
STALIN [3.7K]

Answer:

SO ANSWER AGRE AS FOLLOWS:

Explanation:

A. Wind is the movement of air, caused by the uneven heating of the Earth by the sun and the Earth's own rotation. Winds range from light breezes to natural hazards such as hurricanes and tornadoes.

B.At night, the roles reverse. The air over the ocean is now warmer than the air over the land. The land loses heat quickly after the sun goes down and the air above it cools too. ... This causes the low surface pressure to shift to over the ocean during the night and the high surface pressure to move over the land.

A fugitive tries to hop on a freight train traveling at a constant speed of 5.0 m/s. Just as a box car passes him, the fugitive
Dima020 [189]

Answer:Given:

Initial speed of fugitive, v0 = 0 m/s

Final speed, vf = 6.1 m/s

acceleration, a = 1.4 m/s^2

Speed of train, v = 5.0 m/s

Solution:

t = (vf-v0)/a

t = (6.1-0)/1.4

t =4.36 s

Distance traveled by train, x_T =v*t

x_T =5*4.36 = 21.8 m

Distance travelled by fugitive, x_f = v0*t+1/2at^2

x_f = 0*4.36+1/2*1.4*4.36^2

x_f =13.31 m

5*t = v(t-4.36)+x_f

5*t=6.1*(t-4.36)+13.31

solve for t, we get

t = 12.08 s

The fugitive takes 12.08 s to catch up to the empty box car.

Distance traveled to reach the box car is

X_T = v*t

X_T = 5*12.08 s

X_T = 60.4 m
