Answer:

The height of the flag pole is 20 feet .

Step-by-step explanation:

As given

A rope 29 ft long rope is tied to the top of a flag pole.

The rope is staked to the ground 21 ft away from the base of the pole.

As shown in the figure given below.

By using the pythagorean theorem

Hypotenuse² = Perpendicular² + Base²

AC² = AB² + BC²

As

AC = 29 feet

BC = 21 feet

Put in the above

29² = AB² + 21²

841 = AB² + 441

841 -441 = AB²

400 = AB²

AB = \sqrt{400}

AB = 20 feet

Therefore the height of the flag pole is 20 feet .

The Pythagorean Theorem: L1² + L2² = H²
L2² = H² - L1²
L2² = 29² - 21²
L2² = 841 - 441
L2² = 400 (find the square root of both sides)
L2 = 20 The pole is 20 ft tall

Vlada [557]

Answer:

lenght = 2x + 3

breadth = x - 1

perimeter = 40

Now,

perimeter = 2(l+b)

40= 2( 2x + 3 + x - 1)

40= 2(3x - 2)

40 = 6x- 4

40+4 =6x

44/6 =x

x = 7.33

What is 5y minus 6 and equals 18
s2008m [1.1K]
5y - 6 = 18. Add 6 to both sides. 5y = 24. Divide by five and you end up with y = 24/5, which could also be written as 4.8.
