Sam's job at the amusement park is to slow down and bring to a stop the boats in the log ride. If a boat and its riders have a m

ass of 900 kg and the boat drifts in at 1.6 m/s how much work does Sam do to stop it?

Answer:

Sam will do 1152 J of work to stop the boat

Explanation:

Work: This is defined as the product of force and distance, the S.I unit of work is Joules. At any point in science, during calculation Energy and worked can be interchange because they have the same unit.

E = W = 1/2mv²................ Equation 1

Where E = energy, W = work, m = mass, v = velocity.

Given: m = 900 kg, v = 1.6 m/s

Substituting these values into equation 1

W = 1/2(900)(1.6)²

W = 450×2.56

W = 1152 J.

Therefore Sam will do 1152 J of work to stop the boat

An Olympic discus thrower (~100 kg) launches the 2.0 kg discus by spinning rapidly (~4 times per second) with arm outstretched (
vladimir1956 [14]

Answer:

F = 1263.03 N

Explanation:s

given,

mass of the disk thrower = 100 Kg

mass of the disk = 2 Kg

angular speed of the disk  = 4 rev/s

arm outstretched = 1 m

centripetal force of the disk in the circular path

F = m ω² r

ω = 4 x 2 x π

ω = 25.13 rad/s

F = m ω² r

F = 2 x 25.13² x 1

F = 1263.03 N

hence, centripetal force equal to the F = 1263.03 N

if the current in a wire is 2.0 amperes and the potential difference across the wire is 10 volts what is the resistance of the w
Pavlova-9 [17]

Answer:

R = 2Ω

Explanation:

Potential difference (V) = current (I) * Resistance (R)

V = IR

I = 2.0A

V = 10v

R = ?

V = IR

R = V / I

R = 10 / 2

R = 2Ω

The resistance across the wire is 2Ω

Which of the following is fact-based science rather than part of a personal belief system?
marusya05 [52]
Since there are no choices, then this question calls for open-ended answers. Facts-based science must have proven underlying laws that support inferences such as Coulomb's Law, Kinetic Theory of Matter and many more. On the other hand, examples of science that focus on personal belief is philosophy. This depends on the perspective of known philosophers. An example would be Sigmund Freud who proposed the theory of 3 personalities. Although it is more on personal beliefs, this is used as a foundation in the study of psychology.
