Given:
f1 = 20 Hz
f2 = 20000 Hz
speed of sound at 20 degrees celcius = 343 m/s

Solution:

for f1 = 20 Hz,

Using the equation:

lambda = speed of sound / f1 = 343 / 20 = 17.15 m

For f2:

lambda = speed of sound / f2 = 343 / 20000 = 0.01775 m

Therefore the wavelength range of audible sound in air would be 17.15 m to 0.01775 m.

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Let's recall the speed of wave and intensity of wave formula as follows:

\large {\boxed {v = \lambda f}}

<em>f = frequency of wave ( Hz )</em>

<em>v = speed of wave ( m/s )</em>

<em>λ = wavelength ( m )</em>

\texttt{ }

\large {\boxed {I = 2 \pi^2 A^2 f^2 \rho v}}

<em>I = intensity of wave ( W/m² )</em>

<em>A = amplitude of wave ( m )</em>

<em>f = frequeny of wave ( Hz )</em>

<em>ρ = density of medium ( kg/m³ )</em>

<em>v = speed of wave ( m/s )</em>

<em>Let's tackle the problem!</em>

\texttt{ }

<u>Given:</u>

minimum frequency = f_min = 20.0 Hz

maximum frequency = f_max = 2.00 × 10⁴ Hz

speed of sound in air = 343 m/s <em>( assumption )</em>

<u>Asked:</u>

minimum wavelength = λ_min = ?

maximum wavelength = λ_max = ?

<u>Solution:</u>

20.0 \leq f \leq 2.00 \times 10^4

20.0 \leq \frac{v}{\lambda} \leq 2.00 \times 10^4

20.0 \leq \frac{343}{\lambda} \leq 2.00 \times 10^4

\frac{343}{2.00 \times 10^4} \leq \lambda \leq \frac{343}{20.0}

\large {\boxed {0.01715 \texttt{ m} \leq \lambda \leq 17.15 \texttt{ m}}}

How does an atmosphere change the temperature of a planet?
jolli1 [7]
The existence of atmosphere increases the average planetary temperature by more than 15°C, due to the greenhouse effect of some atmospheric compounds. The most important of them are water vapour (H2O), ozone (O3), carbon dioxide (CO2), and methane (CH4).

A perceived increase in the volume of sound is best explained by ________.
tatiyna

Answer:

A. an increase in the height of the sound wave

Explanation:

Volume of the sound is measured by its intensity

So here we know that

intensity is directly depends on the square of the amplitude of the sound wave

so here as intensity depends on the loudness of the sound given as

L = 10 Log(\frac{I}{I_o})

so here as the loudness of sound will increase then the intensity will increase and hence the amplitude of the sound will also increase

So correct answer will be

A. an increase in the height of the sound wave

a circus performer launches himself from a springboard with an initial velocity of 21 m/s at an angle of 75 toward a platform ha
kherson [118]

Answer:

The circus performer falls back down to the ground

Explanation:

The question parameters are;

The initial velocity of the circus performer = 21 m/s

The angle in which the performer launches himself = 75° towards the platform

The height of the platform above the ground = 20 m

The horizontal distance of the platform from the springboard = 15 m

The vertical motion of the circus performer is given by the following projectile motion relation;

y = y₀ + v₀·sinθ₀t-1/2·g·t²

Where;

y = Height reached by the circus performer

y₀ = Initial height of the the circus performer (the springboard) = 0 m

v₀ = Initial velocity of the the circus performer = 21 m/s

θ₀ = The angle with which the circus performer launches himself = 75°

t = The time of ,light of the circus performer

g = The acceleration due to gravity

Therefore, when the height is 20 m, we have;

20 = 21*sin(75)*t - 1/2*9.81*t²

Which gives;

21*sin(75)*t - 1/2*9.81*t² - 20 = 0

Factorizing using a graphing calculator, gives;

t = 1.623 or t = 2.513

Therefore, the circus performer passes the 20 m mark twice, in his motion, where the first time is when he is on his way up while the second time is when he is on his way down

The horizontal motion of the circus performer is given by the following projectile motion relation;

x = x₀ + v₀*cos(θ₀)* t

Where;

x₀ = The initial position of the circus performer in relation to the final position = 0

Plugging in the value of t when y = 20, we get;

x = 21×cos(75)×1.623 = 8.82 m, which is less than the 15 m platform distance from the spring board

Checking the other time value, we have;

x = 21×cos(75)×2.513 = 13.66 m which is also less than the 15 m platform distance from the spring board

Therefore, the circus performer misses the platform and falls back down to the ground.

A 50-g cube of ice, initially at 0.0°C, is dropped into 200 g of water in an 80-g aluminum container, both initially at 30°C.
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

b. 9.5°C

Explanation:

m_i = Mass of ice = 50 g

T_i = Initial temperature of water and Aluminum = 30°C

L_f = Latent heat of fusion = 3.33\times 10^5\ J/kg^{\circ}C

m_w = Mass of water = 200 g

c_w = Specific heat of water = 4186 J/kg⋅°C

m_{Al} = Mass of Aluminum = 80 g

c_{Al} = Specific heat of Aluminum = 900 J/kg⋅°C

The equation of the system's heat exchange is given by

m_i(L_f+c_wT)+m_wc_w(T-T_i)+m_{Al}c_{Al}=0\\\Rightarrow 0.05\times (3.33\times 10^5+4186\times T)+0.2\times 4186(T-30)+0.08\times 900(T-30)=0\\\Rightarrow 1118.5T-10626=0\\\Rightarrow T=\dfrac{10626}{1118.5}\\\Rightarrow T=9.50022\ ^{\circ}C

The final equilibrium temperature is 9.50022°C
