Answer:

18, 16

Step-by-step explanation:

let the two numbers be x and y

x+y=34→→→→→→equation 1

The difference between any two consecutive even number is 2 therefore

x-y=2→→→→→→equation 2

from equation 1 make x the subject of the formula by taking y to the other side;

x=34-y→→→→→→equation 3

substitute equation 3 as x in equation 2. we have;

34-y-y=2;

34-2y=2;

collect like terms;

-2y=2-34

-2y=-32

divide both sides by -2 we have;

y=16; it is no longer negative because the minus have cancelled each other when dividing

from equation 3;

x=34-y

x=34-16

x=18

How do you answer these questions?
Maurinko [17]

Answer:

35) 5/12 36) 7/11

Step-by-step explanation:

Because, when you are drawing a girls name from the hat, the probability would be 7/12, then you replace her name and that would make the probability to draw a boys name 5/12. (since you replaced the girls name before.

now you have a probability of drawing 5/12 for a boys name, and now you don't replace the name, so the probability to draw a girls name out of the hat, would be 7/11

(idk if you have to put both answers on one, so if so, then do that for your answer Example: for 35, if the answer is 5/12, 7/12 then do that

Hope this helped, sorry I am not good at explaining things:)

Is 0.144 rational or irrational ?
madam [21]
Irrational numbers can be written as decimals but not as fractions.

0.144 is a decimal, but it can also be written as 18/125. So this is a rational number.

√0.144 is equal to 0.3794733192. It cannot be expressed into a fraction. So, this is an irrational number.

√0.0144 is equal to 3/25. So, this is a rational number.

I hope I was able to help you. Have a good day.
