A reaction of 41.9 g of Na and 30.3 g of Br2 yields 36.4 g of NaBr . What is the percent yield?

Chemistry

Answer: The percent yield is, 93.4%

Explanation:

First we have to calculate the moles of Na.

\text{Moles of Na}=\frac{\text{Mass of Na}}{\text{Molar mass of Na}}=\frac{41.9g}{23g/mole}=1.82moles

Now we have to calculate the moles of Br_2

{\text{Moles of}Br_2} = \frac{\text{Mass of }Br_2 }{\text{Molar mass of} Br_2} =\frac{30.3g}{160g/mole}=0.189moles

{\text{Moles of } NaBr} = \frac{\text{Mass of } NaBr }{\text{Molar mass of } NaBr} =\frac{36.4g}{103g/mole}=0.353moles

The balanced chemical reaction is,

2Na(s)+Br_2(g)\rightarrow 2NaBr

As, 1 mole of bromine react with = 2 moles of Sodium

So, 0.189 moles of bromine react with = \frac{2}{1}\times 0.189=0.378 moles of Sodium

Thus bromine is the limiting reagent as it limits the formation of product and Na is the excess reagent.

As, 1 mole of bromine give = 2 moles of Sodium bromide

So, 0.189 moles of bromine give = \frac{2}{1}\times 0.189=0.378 moles of Sodium bromide

Now we have to calculate the percent yield of reaction

\%\text{ yield}=\frac{\text{Actual yield}}{\text{Theoretical yield}}\times 100=\frac{0.353 mol}{0.378}\times 100=93.4\%

Therefore, the percent yield is, 93.4%

For the following reaction, 28.6 grams of zinc oxide are allowed to react with 9.54 grams of water . zinc oxide(s) water(l) zinc
maw [93]

Answer:

34.9 g of Zn(OH)₂ is the maximum mass that can be formed

Explanation:

Let's state the reaction:

ZnO(s)  + H₂O(l) → Zn(OH)₂ (aq)

First of all, we need to determine the moles of each reactant and state the limiting:

28.6 g . 1mol /81.38 g = 0.351 moles of ZnO

9.54 g . 1mol /18 g = 0.53 moles of water

As ratio is 1:1, for 0.53 moles of water, we need 0.53 moles of ZnO, but we only have 0.351, so the limiting reactant is the ZnO.

Ratio with the product is also 1:1. From 0.351 moles of oxide we can produce 0.351 moles of hydroxide. Let's calculate the mass:

0.351 mol . 99.4 g /1mol = 34.9 g

At 25°c the henry's law constant for nitrogen trifluoride (nf3) gas in water is 7.9 × 10-4 m/atm. what is the mass of nf3 gas th
Step2247 [10]
For this problem, we should use the Henry's Law formula which is written below:

P = kC
where
P is the partial pressure of the gas
k is the Henry's Law constant at a certain temperature
C is the concentration

Substituting the values,
1.71 atm = (7.9×10⁻⁴<span> /atm)C
Solving for C,
C = 2164.56 molal or 2164.56 mol/kgwater

Let's make use of density of water (</span>1 kg/1 m³) and the molar mass of NF₃ (71 g/mol).<span>

Mass of NF</span>₃ = 2164.56 mol/kg water * 1 kg/1 m³ * 1 m³/1000000 mL * 150 mL * 71 g/mol = 23.05 g
