A physics student standing on the edge of a cliff throws a stone vertically downward with an initial speed of 10.0 m/s. The inst

ant before the stone hits the ground below, it is traveling at a speed of 30.0 m/s. If the physics student were to throw the rock horizontally outward from the cliff instead, with the same initial speed of 10.0 m/s, what is the magnitude of the velocity of the stone just before it hits the ground? Ignore any effects of air resistance.

Answer:

vf = 30 m/s : (the magnitude of the velocity of the stone just before it hits the ground)

Explanation:

Because the stone moves with uniformly accelerated movement we apply the following formulas:

vf²=v₀²+2*g*h Formula (1)

Where:

h: displacement in meters (m)

v₀: initial speed in m/s

vf: final speed in m/s

g: acceleration due to gravity in m/s²

Free fall of the stone

Data

v₀ =  10 m/s

vf =  30.0 m/s

g = 9,8 m/s²

We replace data in the formula (1) to calculate h:

vf²=v₀²+2*g*h

(30)² = (10)² + (2)(9.8)*h

(30)²- (10)²= (2)(9.8)*h

h =( (30)²- (10)²) /( 2)(9.8)

h = 40.816 m

Semiparabolic movement of the stone

Data

v₀x =  10 m/s

v₀y =  0 m/s

g = 9.8 m/s²

h= 40.816 m

We replace data in the formula (1) to calculate vfy :

vfy² = v₀y² + 2*g*h

vfy² = 0 + (2)(9.8)( 40.816)

v_{fy}=\sqrt{2*9.8*40.816} = 28.284 \frac{m}{s}

v_{f}=\sqrt{v_{ox}^2+v_{fy}^2}=\sqrt{(10)^2+(28.284)^2} = 30\frac{m}{s}

Firdavs [7]

Answer:

d=0.137 m ⇒13.7 cm

Explanation:

Given data

m (Mass)=3.0 kg

α(incline) =34°

Spring Constant (force constant)=120 N/m

d (distance)=?

Solution

F=mg

F=(3.0)(9.8)

F=29.4 N

As we also know that

Force parallel to the incline=FSinα

F=29.4×Sin(34)

F=16.44 N

d(distance)=F/Spring Constant

d(distance)=16.44/120

d(distance)=0.137 m ⇒13.7 cm

A screen is placed 1.20m behind a single slit. The central maximum in the resulting diffraction pattern on the screen is 1.40cm
andrew11 [14]

Answer:

2.8 cm

Explanation:

y_1 = Separation between two first order diffraction minima = 1.4 cm

D = Distance of screen = 1.2 m

m = Order

Fringe width is given by

\beta_1=\dfrac{y_1}{2}\\\Rightarrow \beta_1=\dfrac{1.4}{2}\\\Rightarrow \beta_1=0.7\ cm

Fringe width is also given by

\beta_1=\dfrac{m_1\lambda D}{d}\\\Rightarrow d=\dfrac{m_1\lambda D}{\beta_1}

For second order

\beta_2=\dfrac{m_2\lambda D}{d}\\\Rightarrow \beta_2=\dfrac{m_2\lambda D}{\dfrac{m_1\lambda D}{\beta_1}}\\\Rightarrow \beta_2=\dfrac{m_2}{m_1}\beta_1

Distance between two second order minima is given by

y_2=2\beta_2

\\\Rightarrow y_2=2\dfrac{m_2}{m_1}\beta_1\\\Rightarrow y_2=2\dfrac{2}{1}\times 0.7\\\Rightarrow y_2=2.8\ cm

The distance between the two second order minima is 2.8 cm

Into molecules of sugar and oxygen.
The complete reaction of the photosynthesis is in fact:
6CO_2+6H_2O \rightarrow C_6H_{12}O_6+6O_2
and the energy of the light coming from the sun is also used to make the reaction possible.
