Body fat in humans includes both essential and storage body fat. Essential body fat is needed to maintain life and is generally

higher for women than men. Storage body fat is the type that accumulates throughout the body and is similar for both men and women. When storage body fat increases above a healthy range, disease risk increases. However, the location of the stored body fat is even more important for determining disease risk than the amount of fat in an individual.
Higher levels of visceral fat will _______ an individual's risk of developing many chronic diseases, including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Answer:

Increase

Explanation:

Visceral fat is a type of storage body fat. It is stored in the abdominal cavity and often surrounds many vital internal organs like stomach and liver. Over the time it forms a layer around these organs and also deposits in arteries which can cause many problems.

It can lead to insulin resistance which increases the risk for type 2 diabetes. It can also lead to other chronic conditions like heart disease and stroke. Hence, its increased amount is not good for the body. It can be decreased by proper diet, exercise and decreasing stress.

Which of these statements describes one possible interaction between the endocrine and respiratory systems?
Ne4ueva [31]
Considering these statements;
F. the heart is composed of muscle tissue
G Hormones can trigger asthma attacks
H The rib cage expands to move air into the lungs
J blood cells can attackpathogens
The most appropriate statement that describes one possible interaction between the endocrine and the respiratory systems is G. Hormones can trigger Asthma attacks.
Endocrine systems releases hormones into the bloodstream so that one organ can communicate with another. Respiratory system brings in air to the lungs, where it diffuses into the bloodstream and also excretes carbon dioxide.

Which of the following statements does NOT accurately describe a characteristic of the autonomic nervous system?
den301095 [7]

Answer:

e. All of the choices describe characteristics of the ANS.

Explanation:

The autonomic nervous system is a regulatory and control system that influences the functions of internal organs.

Autonomic pathways consist of two types of motor neurons, these are the preganglionic neuron and the postganglionic neuron.

ANS stimulation of involuntary effectors is always excitatory. In the preganglionic autonomic neurons, and all postganglionic parasympathetic neurons are usually (cholinergic i.e receptors that bins with acetylcholine), as a result they release acetylcholine as a neurotransmitter. The cholinergic effects of  preganglionic autonomic neurons are always excitatory.

The postganglionic neuron lies entirely in the peripheral nervous system.Yes!, this is so because the ganglion cells that give rise to postganglionic axons lies through the gray rami communicans and join the peripheral nerves of the peripheral nervous system.
