Two insulated copper wires of similar overall diameter have very different interiors. One wire possesses a solid core of copper,

with a circular cross section of radius 2.28 mm. The other wire is composed of 19 strands of thin copper wire bundled together. Each strand has a circular cross section of radius 0.456 mm. The current density J in each wire is the same. J = 3750 A /m^2
a. How much current does each wire carry?
b. What is the resistance of a 6.25 m length of each wire?

Answer with Explanation:

We are given that

Radius of  solid core wire=r=2.28 mm=2.28\times 10^{-3} m

1mm=10^{-3} m

Radius of each strand  of thin wire=r'=0.456 mm=0.456\times 10^{-3} m

Current density of each wire=J=3750 A/m^2

a.Area =\pi r^2

Where \pi=3.14

Using the formula

Cross section area of copper wire has solid core =3.14\times (2.28\times 10^{-3})^2=16.3\times 10^{-6} m^2

Current density =J=\frac{I}{A}

Using the formula

3750=\frac{I}{16.3\times 10^{-6}}

I=3750\times 16.3\times 10^{-6}=0.061 A

Total number of strands=19

Area of strand wire=A'=19\times 3.14\times (0.456\times 10^{-3})^2=12.4\times 10^{-6} m^2

J'=\frac{I'}{A'}

3750=\frac{I'}{19\times 3.14(0.456\times 10^{-3})^2}

I'=3750\times 19\times 3.14(0.456\times 10^{-3})^2

I'=0.047 A

b.Resistivity of copper wire=\rho=1.69\times 10^{-8}\Omega-m

Length of each wire =6.25 m

Resistance, R=\frac{\rho l}{A}

Using the formula

Resistance of solid core wire=R=\frac{1.69\times 10^{-8}\times 6.25}{16.3\times 10^{-6}}=6.5\times 10^{-3}\Omega

Resistance of strand wire=R'=\frac{1.69\times 10^{-8}\times 6.25}{12.4\times 10^{-6}}=8.5\times 10^{-3}\Omega

You throw a ball straight up. The ball has an initial speed of 11.2 m/s when it leaves your hand What is the maximum height the
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

initial velocity u=11.2\ m/s

At maximum height velocity of ball is zero

using

v^2-u^2=2as

where v=final velocity

u=initial velocity

a=acceleration

s=displacement

(0)^2 -(11.2)^2=2\times (-9.8)\times (s)

s=\frac{11.2^2}{2\times 9.8}

s=6.4

time taken by the ball to reach the maximum height

v=u+at

0=11.2-9.8\times t

t=\frac{11.2}{9.8}

t=1.142\ s

At t=2\ s height of ball is

h=ut+\\frac{1}{2}at^2

h=11.2\times 2-\frac{1}{2}9.8\times (2)^2

h=22.4-19.6

h=2.8\ m

i.e. ball is moving downward

height at v=5\ m/s

v^2-u^2=2as

s=\frac{25-125.4}{2\times (-9.8)}

s=5.12\ m

What is necessary for differentiation to occur in a planet?
Vesnalui [34]

Answer: A difference in properties between two interacting systems as explained below.

Explanation: Planetary differentiation is the process of separation of different parts of a planetary body as a result of their physical or chemical behavior.

Causes for Physical Differentiation:

1. Melting and crystallization of source rock.

2. Differences in densities

3. Thermal diffusion

4. Collision of large bodies

Chemical Differentiation accounts for differences in chemical compositions of different materials.

The differentiation, or organization, of the Earth into layers led to the formation of a core, a crust, and eventually continents. The light elements were driven from the interior to form an ocean and atmosphere.

The San Andreas fault puts Californians at great risk for major earthquakes and tsunamis. True False
Vesna [10]
True.

The San Andreas fault, though it has not shaken for quite a few years, is, as scientists are saying, getting ready to create one of the largest earthquakes known. A sudden and destructive movement of plates can move the water located above, creating a large wave (tsunamis) that can overflow and flood parts of the Western Coast of the Americas.

hope this helps

why do you think we have different seasons (fall, summer, winter, spring) in certain areas of the world?
Verizon [17]

Answer:

how the areas are at

Explanation:

The tilt of the Earth's AXIS is the most important reason why seasons occur... The area depends why there's  a certain differnt season on differnt areas , its because one area is closet to the sun which mostky they get summer full time (like a normal year), but  Alaska,it just winter , the reason why Alaska is just cold because its not close to the sun.
