Go online and search for information about companies that have been harmed or bankrupted by a disaster. Choose one such company

and create a brief case study about it. Successful narratives will focus on the manner in which the organization was impacted, including financial losses, losses of sales, or the need for layoffs.

Answer:

See explaination

Explanation:

In recent times and in the past, so many companies have been dealt with or bankrupted by disaster.

This disasters are in the form of floods, earthquake and tsunami. This has led to many companies across world to have faced problem. As Japan is particularly vulnerable to natural disaster because of its climate and topography let me take example of japan .The tsunami that struck Japan in March this year which has lead to a debt of worth nearly $8 billion due to failed businesses. A total of 341 firms in japan with a combined 6,376 employees has got affected by this disaster.

One of company that hit hard by these disaster is Toyota. Toyota is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. Actually due to flood in thailand toyota has faced a big loss. As flood hit thailand the parts of vehicle which is produced in thailand has stopped . It leads to interruption in the supply chain of some Thailand made components.

This lead to suspension of production as thai made component was unavailable.It has been reported until the situation of thailand will be good toyota plants in Indiana, Kentucky and Ontario, Canada, will be shut down . And production rate at plant in North America will get slow down .This flood leads to a loss of 37500 vehicles .Due to this reason toyota was forced to open its plants in Southeast asian country just to enhance the production rate.Sales of vehicle has also got reduced in thailand . Hence toyota faced a total loss of 1.6 billion dollar.

In Nigeria, due to the insurgency of the Boko Haram, many companies have entirely stopped operations in some regions, this harsh realities leads to massive loss of revenue for such companies.

A satellite orbits the Earth every 2 hours at an average distance from the Earth's centre of 8000km. (i) What is the average ang
AlexFokin [52]

Answer:

i)ω=3600 rad/s

ii)V=7059.44 m/s

iii)F=1245.8 N

Explanation:

i)

We know that angular speed given as

\omega =\dfrac{d\theta}{dt}

We know that for one revolution

θ=2π

Given that time t= 2 hr

So

ω=θ/t

ω=2π/2 = π rad/hr

ω=3600 rad/s

ii)

Average speed V

V=\sqrt{\dfrac{GM}{R}}

Where M is the mass of earth.

R is the distance

G is the constant.

Now by putting the values

V=\sqrt{\dfrac{GM}{R}}

V=\sqrt{\dfrac{6.667\times 10^{-11}\times 5.98\times 10^{24}}{8000\times 10^3}}

V=7059.44 m/s

iii)

We know that centripetal fore given as

F=\dfrac{mV^2}{R}

Here given that m= 200 kg

R= 8000 km

so now by putting the values

F=\dfrac{mV^2}{R}

F=\dfrac{200\times 7059.44^2}{8000\times 10^3}

F=1245.8 N

A 3.5-m3 rigid tank initially contains air whose density is 2 kg/m3 . The tank is connected to a high-pressure supply line throu
Mumz [18]

Answer:

Explanation:

First, we find the mass of the air originally in the tank.

Density is given as mass divided by volume. It is given as:

Density = \frac{mass}{volume}

Therefore, mass is:

mass = denisty *volume

Density of air = 2 kg/m^3; Volume of the tank =  3.5 m^3

=> Mass = 3.5 * 2 = 7 kg

The mass of the air initially in the tank is 7 kg.

After air is allowed to enter, the mass changes.

New density = 6.5 kg/m^3

The new mass will be:

Mass = 6.5 * 3.5 = 22.75 kg

We can now find the mass of air that has entered the tank:

Mass of air that entered tank = New mass of air - Original mass of air

M = 22.75 - 7.0 = 15.75 kg

The mass of air that entered the tank is 15.75 kg.

Find the differential and evaluate for the given x and dx: y=sin2xx,x=π,dx=0.25
Sedaia [141]

By applying the concepts of differential and derivative, the differential for y = (1/x) · sin 2x and evaluated at x = π and dx = 0.25 is equal to 1/2π.

<h3>How to determine the differential of a one-variable function</h3>

Differentials represent the <em>instantaneous</em> change of a variable. As the given function has only one variable, the differential can be found by using <em>ordinary</em> derivatives. It follows:

dy = y'(x) · dx     (1)

If we know that y = (1/x) · sin 2x, x = π and dx = 0.25, then the differential to be evaluated is:

y' = -\frac{1}{x^{2}}\cdot \sin 2x + \frac{2}{x}\cdot \cos 2x

y' = \frac{2\cdot x \cdot \cos 2x - \sin 2x}{x^{2}}

dy = \left(\frac{2\cdot x \cdot \cos 2x - \sin 2x}{x^{2}} \right)\cdot dx

dy = \left(\frac{2\pi \cdot \cos 2\pi -\sin 2\pi}{\pi^{2}} \right)\cdot (0.25)

dy = \frac{1}{2\pi}

By applying the concepts of differential and derivative, the differential for y = (1/x) · sin 2x and evaluated at x = π and dx = 0.25 is equal to 1/2π.

A 200‑m rigid vessel contains a saturated liquid‑vapor mixture with a vapor quality of 75%. The temperature of the vessel is mai
DerKrebs [107]

Answer:

Given,

Temperature;

T = 393;;K

Convert to Celcius;

T = (393-273) degrees

T = 120°C

Using Table A-4 (Saturated water - Temperature table), at T = 120 C;

vf = 0.001060 m³/kg

vg = 0.89133 m³/kg

Quality is given as;

75% = 0.75

Specific volume is given as;

v = vf + x (vg - vf) = 0.001060 + 0.75(0.89133 _ 0.001060)

v= 0.66876 m³/kg

We know;

v = V/m

0.66876  = 100/m

m = 149.53 kg
