Answer:

Option d)

Explanation:

As the Kinetic energy of the body ids due to the speed of the body and depends on it, it does not depend on the height of the body.

The kinetic energy is given by:

KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}

where

m = mass of the body

v = kinetic energy of the body

Now, as per the question:

Initial velocity is u

and final velocity, v = 2u

Thus

Initial KE = \frac{1}{2}mu^{2}               (1)

FInal KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^{2} = \frac{1}{2}m(2u)^{2}

FInal KE = 4\frac{1}{2}mu^{2}               (2)

Thus from eqn (1) and (2):

Final KE = 4(Initial KE)

The Kinetic Energy has changed by a factor of 4

How much time would Simpson save by increasing his average velocity to 26m/s East?
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

8 minutes

Explanation:

Part of the question is missing. Complete question is:

<em>Simpson drives his car 144 km with an average velocity of 24 m/s toward the east. How much time would Simpson save by increasing his average velocity to 26m/s East?</em>

Solution:

First of all, we have to calculate the time it takes for Simpson to complete the drive moving at the initial velocity, 24 m/s. We can use the formula:

t=\frac{d}{v}

where

d=144 km = 1.44\cdot 10^5 m is the displacement

v=24 m/s is the velocity

Substituting,

t=\frac{1.44\cdot 10^5}{24}=6000 s = 100 min

While driving at 26 m/s, the time taken will be

t=\frac{1.44\cdot 10^5}{26}=5538 s=92 min

So, Simpson will save 8 minutes.

Answer:

Part 1

Stationary

Part 2

20 Newtons

Part 3

Force

Part 4

4.0 m/s²

Part 5

Normal

Part 6

Cart m

Part 7

The gravitational force is less than magnetic force

Explanation:

Part 1

The position time graph of the object is an horizontal straight line passing across the top of the position 3 boxes vertically up from the origin

As the time increases by the units of number boxes to the left, the position of the object does not change and remains at the 3 boxes up above the origin, therefore, the object is stationary

Part 2

By Newton's third law of motion, the action action obtained from a force is equal to the reaction given to the force, therefore, we have;

The force exerted by the student on the scale = The force exerted by the scale on the student = 20 N

Part 3

A force is a the directional push on an object or pull from the object as a form of interaction with another object which tends to alter or maintain the motion of the object

Part 4

The given parameters are'

The mass of block A = 1.0 kg

The mass of block B = 2.0 kg

Both blocks, "A" and "B" are initially at rest

The applied horizontal force, F = 12-N

The nature of the surface over which the blocks move = Smooth surface

Force, F = Mass, m × Acceleration, a

F = m × a

The blocks two blocks experience a common acceleration, a

The combined mass of the two blocks, m = 1.0 kg + 2.0 kg = 3.0 kg

m = 3.0 kg

Therefore, a = F/m = 12-N/(3.0 kg) = 4 m/s²

Part 5

A normal force is a force acting perpendicularly to a surface that supports the weight of an object

Part 6

The given parameters are;

M = 2 kg

The mass of the left cart attached to the spring = M = 2 kg

The mass of the right cart attached to the spring = 2·M = 2 × 2 kg = 4 kg

Therefore, given that the force exerted by one cart on the other after the spring is removed, we have;

Force, F = M × a₁ = 2·M × a₂

Where;

a₁ = The average acceleration of the cart with mass, M

a₂ = The average acceleration of the cart with mass, 2·M

M × a₁ = 2·M × a₂

∴ a₁ = 2·a₂

The acceleration, a₁, of car M = 2 × The acceleration, a₂, of car 2·M

The acceleration of cart M is two times the acceleration of cart 2·M

Cart M will experience a greater average acceleration

Part 7

For the top magnet of two magnets placed two magnets arranged so that one is on top the other, to be held in the air with a space between the two magnets, the gravitational force pulling the top magnet down, is less than the repelling magnetic force between the two magnets.

Hanging from a horizontal beam are nine simple pendulums of the following lengths:
LenaWriter [7]

Answer:

Options d and e

Explanation:

The pendulum which will be set in motion are those which their natural frequency is equal to the frequency of oscillation of the beam.

We can get the length of the pendulums likely to oscillate with the formula;

L =\frac{g}{w^{2} }

where g=9.8m/s

         ω= 2rad/s to 4rad/sec

when ω= 2rad/sec

L= \frac{9.8}{2^{2} }

L = 2.45m

when  ω= 4rad/sec

L=\frac{9.8}{4^{2} }

L = 9.8/16

L=0.6125m

L is between 0.6125m and 2.45m.

This means only pendulum lengths in this range will oscillate.Therefore pendulums with length 0.8m and 1.2m will be strongly set in motion.

What, it isn’t?!

Sorry, I had to.

As far as I have read and understood, the Sumerians and later the Babylonians both had astronomical calendars that already differentiated planets and stars. Earth was not the center to them, the Sun likely was. That was around 2,200 - 1,600 BC.

After that, Greek philosopher Aristarchus of Samos (310 - 230 BC) was the first (recorded) to have believed the solar system was organized around the Sun, rather than the Earth. His heliocentric model was unpopular during Aristarchus’ lifetime, although it would inspire astronomers centuries later, such as Copernicus and Galileo.

Now, there are numerous archeological findings (cave paintings) and studies, that all suggest an understanding of complex astronomy in prehistoric times dating back as far as 40,000 years. This also explains how early, prehistoric migrants may have navigated the seas.
