I need to write a report on how/what type of research I would do debating on “most people with mental illnesses are odd, violent

, or both.” My idea would be to put different types of people, mental illnesses or not, under the stress of a timed test to see how they react. However, out of case, study, naturalistic observation, correlation, or experimental, I’m unsure of where this process of research would fall. Any help would be appreciated! I also need to make sure to eliminate all bias that could intervene

Researchers wanted to know if there is a link between proximity to high-tension wires and the rate of leukemia in children. T
Mama L [17]

Answer:

No they cannot

Explanation:

Leukemia, also called blood cancer is a cancer that affects blood forming tissues including the bone marrow affecting the body's ability to ward off infections.

The researchers cannot conclude that proximity to high tension wires is the cause of leukemia because of confounding (other external unaccounted) variables.

There are other external factors which could be the cause of higher rate of leukemia in the area with close proximity to high tension wires, and unless the two environments were kept under similar conditions with proximity to high tension wires the only difference, then it would be wrong to conclude such as the other variables unaccounted for at play were not observed and could also have an effect.

timurjin [86]

Answer: Psychology

Explanation:

Psychology broadly includes the scientific study of the mind and human behavior and contains many sub-specialties which include: clinical human development, social behavior, and the human cognitive process. Psychologists examine a range of behaviors and processes inclusive of emotion motivation, personality, cognition and perception.

One subset of human behavior which has interesting and implications for a wide range of issues is advertising and the way they affect the human mind. This focuses on humankind’s consumer behavior, which is how we buy, purchase and utilize goods and services. It is mostly applicable for companies attempting to sell products to large consumer markets; what and why we buy can influence several areas of our lives- consumer research encompasses communication, personality or social ranking, and decision-making, physical and mental health along with advertising.

Companies typically alter their message to fit ever-changing public desire; they are utilized in market research psychological studies and specific focus groups to target consumers and understand:

  • what makes them purchase products and
  • why specific advertising campaigns may be more successful than others

For example, unnecessary purchases (new shoes, extra makeup etc.) are thought to be driven by a desire to cement social status or to alleviate negative emotion like boredom anger and sadness.
