Heat can be transferred from one place to another by three methods:

conduction in solids,

convection of fluids (liquids or gases),

radiation through anything that will allow radiation to pass.

"Boiling water" means pumping enough heat into it to raise its temperature to the boiling point.

"Type of heat transfer" means how do you do that ... pump the heat into the water ?

Well, there are exactly three ways to transfer heat from one place to another: Conduction, convection, and radiation. There aren't any other ways. You can use ANY of these types of heat transfer IF you can construct a way to use it to heat water.

Conduction: Maybe you could heat a steel ball until it's glowing red-hot, then drop it into the water.

Convection: Maybe you could heat the bottom of the bottle or kettle the water is in, and let convection circulate all the water up and down until the whole thing starts boiling.

Radiation: Maybe you could shine a heat lamp or sunshine onto the water, and wait until the water absorbs enough of the radiated heat to start boiling.

The way it's MOST OFTEN done is to light a fire under the water container. When you do that, here are the types of heat transfer involved:

-- Heat transfers from the fire to the bottom of the container by CONDUCTION.

-- The heat passes through from the outside of the bottom of the container to the inside by CONDUCTION.

-- When the heat gets inside, it heats up the bottom of the water by CONDUCTION.

-- The water circulates up and down in the container. Hot water rises from the bottom to the top, and cold water sinks from the top to the bottom. That's CONVECTION. Eventually, ALL of the water in the container is hot enough to boil.

Tyler is in downtown San Antonio entertaining the tourists with amazing feats of physics. He carries a nickel
professor190 [17]

Answer:

The velocity of the nickel just before it hits the ground is approximately 49.3 m/s

Explanation:

In order to calculate the velocity of the nickel just before it hits the ground, we recall the kinematic equation of motion, v² = u² + 2·g·h, where the variables of the equation are defined as follows;

v = The velocity of the nickel just before it hits the ground after it is pushed off the observation deck

u = The initial velocity of the nickel just before it is pushed off the observation deck = 0 m/s

g = The acceleration due to gravity = 9.8 m/s²

h = The height from which he nickel is pushed off the edge = 124 m

Substituting the given values and the constant, "g", we have;

v² = 0² + 2 × 9.8 × 124 = 2,430.4

v = √2,430.4

Using a graphing calculator, we have;

v = √2,430.4 = 14·√(62/5) ≈ 49.3

The velocity of the nickel just before it hits the ground = v ≈ 49.3 m/s.

1. A mass suspended from a spring oscillates vertically with amplitude of 15 cm. At what distance from the equilibrium position
antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer:

The value of the distance is \bf{14.52~cm}.

Explanation:

The velocity of a particle(v) executing SHM is

v = \omega \sqrt{A^{2} - x^{2}}~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`~(1)

where, \omega is the angular frequency, A is the amplitude of the oscillation and x is the displacement of the particle at any instant of time.

The velocity of the particle will be maximum when the particle will cross its equilibrium position, i.e., x = 0.

The maximum velocity(\bf{v_{m}}) is

v_{m} = \omega A~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(2)

Divide equation (1) by equation(2).

\dfrac{v}{v_{m}} = \dfrac{\sqrt{A^{2} - x^{2}}}{A}~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(3)

Given, v = 0.25 v_{m} and A = 15~cm. Substitute these values in equation (3).

&& \dfrac{1}{4} = \dfrac{\sqrt{15^{2} - x^{2}}}{15}\\&or,& A = 14.52~cm

1. Why did Asteroid 2019 OK cause concern among scientists? * The asteroid was not detected until it was extremely close to Eart
AveGali [126]

Answer:

<u>The asteroid was not detected until it was extremely close to Earth. </u>

Explanation:

According to data from NASA, the Asteroid named 'Astriod 2019 OK', was detected when it was extremely close to earth with just about an estimated distance of  73,000 kilometers  (45,000 miles) from the Earth.

Scientists were concerned at the proximity of this space object to the Earth before it was discovered, and it brought about a cause of concern that since it was not extremely large (estimated 57 to 130 meters wide) it creates a potential for other smaller asteroids to escape detection and struck the earth.

The box resting on the inclined plane above has a mass of 20kg. The incline sits at a 30o angle. Find the friction force between
tekilochka [14]

The friction force between the box and the incline if the box does not slide down the incline will be 0.577

The force preventing sliding against one another of solid surfaces, fluid layers, and material components is known as friction. There are several kinds of friction: Two solid surfaces in touch are opposed to one another's relative lateral motion by dry friction.

Given the box resting on the inclined plane above has a mass of 20kg and the The incline sits at a 30 degree angle

We have to find the friction force between the box and the incline if the box does not slide down the incline

Since the frictional force F₁ must equal or exceed gravitational force F₂ down the incline:

F₁ = F₂

μmgcosΘ = mgsinΘ

μ = (mgsinΘ)/(mgcosΘ)

μ = tanΘ

μ = 0.577

Hence the friction force between the box and the incline if the box does not slide down the incline will be 0.577
