Railroads not only led to an increase in the ability to transport raw materials, but they also led to an increase in the overall demand of the raw materials. At the begining of the 19th century the railways not only moved goods across long distances, but it also led to the transportation of people. The railroads shortened the time for moving goods and people. the faster communication led to the overall growth of the industries as well as the country. The industries started demanding more raw materials for converting them to finished products and transporting them to longer distances.
