Linda performed the following trials in an experiment. Trial 1: Heat 30.0 grams of water at 0 °C to a final temperature of 40.0
nexus9112 [7]

Answer: The correct answer is Option b.

Explanation:

To calculate the amount of heat absorbed or released, we use the following equation:

q=mc\Delta T    .....(1)

where, q = amount of heat absorbed or released.

m = mass of the substance

c = heat capacity of  water = 4.186 J/g ° C

\Delta T = Change in temperature

  • For Trial 1:

We are given:

m=30g\\\Delta T=[40-0]^oC=40^oC\\q=?J

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

q=30g\times 4.186J/g^oC\times 40^oC

q = 5023.2 J

  • For trial 2:

We are given:

m=40g\\\Delta T=[40-30]^oC=10^oC\\q=?J

Putting values in equation 1, we get:

q=40g\times 4.186J/g^oC\times 10^oC

q = 1674.4 J

Heat gained by Trial 1 than trial 2 = (5023.2-1674.4)J=3347J

Hence, the amount of heat gained in Trial 1 about 3347 J more than the heat released in Trial 2.

Thus, the correct answer is Option b.

Ethylene glycol (antifreeze) has a density of 1.11 g/cm3. What is the mass in grams of 387 mL of ethylene glycol?
harkovskaia [24]
To start, 1 cubic centimeter = 1 milliliter, so now you have 1.11g/mL.

Now multiply 1.11 by 387 to get the mass of antifreeze in grams, since the mL is canceled out.

387 mL x 1.11g/mL = 429.57 g

Lithium reacts with bromine (Br2) in a synthesis reaction to produce lithium bromide. Determine the limiting reactant if 25.0 gr
Lunna [17]

Answer: Bromine is the limiting reactant

Explanation:

First of all let's generate a balanced equation for the reaction

2Li + Br2 —> 2LiBr

Molar Mass of Li = 7g/mol

Molar Mass of Br2 = 2x80 = 160g/mol

From the question given, were told that 25g of Li and 25g Br2 were present at the take-off of the reaction. Converting these Masses to mole, we have:

Number of mole of Li = 25/7 = 3.6moles

Number of mole of Br2 = 25/160 = 0.156mol.

To know which is the limiting reactant, we have to compare the ratio of the number of mole of experimental Li and Br2 to that of theoretical Li and Br2

For the experimental yield:

Li : Br2 = 3.6/ 0.156 = 23 : 1

For the theoretical yield:

Li : Br = 2 : 1

From the above, we see clear that Br2 is the limiting reactant because according to the equation( which gives the theoretical yield), for every 2moles of Li, 1mole of Br2 is used up. But this is not so from the experiment conducted as 23moles required 1mole of Br2.

Ce presiune au 40L gaz la temperatura de 100⁰C, dacă la presiunea de 6 atm și temperatura de 50⁰C volumul ocupat este de 20L.
sammy [17]

Answer:

3,46 atm

Explanation:

Tenemos;

P1 =?

T1 = 100 + 273 = 373 K

V1 = 40 litros

P2 = 6 atmósferas

T2 = 50 + 273 = 323 K

V2 = 20 litros

Desde;

P1V1 / T1 = P2V2 / T2

P1V1T2 = P2V2T1

P1 = P2V2T1 / V1T2

P1 = 6 * 20 * 373/40 * 323

P1 = 44760/12920

P1 = 3,46 atm
