a bus travels north on some busy city streets for 2.5 km, and a trip that takes 9 minutes. At one point in the trip, the bus is

stopped at a red light. What is it's instantaneous velocity in m/s? At another point, the bus travels at a constant speed of 18m/s. What is its instantaneous velocity?

Answer:

Instantaneous velocity at the red light is 0 m/s.

Instantaneous velocity at another point is 18 m/s towards north.

Explanation:

Instantaneous velocity is the velocity of a body at any given moment of time.

It's the current speed and direction in which it acts.

When the bus is at the red light, it is not in motion at that point. So, the instantaneous velocity of the bus is 0 m/s at that moment of time.

Again, at another point, the bus is moving with constant speed of 18 m/s, so the instantaneous velocity is also 18 m/s but with a specified direction as velocity is a vector quantity.

So, the instantaneous velocity when the bus is moving with constant speed is 18 m/s towards north.

What is the mechanical advantage of the wheel and axle shown below?
BigorU [14]

The correct answer is A. 32.5

Mechanical advantage is the ratio of force that is input into a machine to the force output.

Mechanical advantage of a wheel and axle is calculated by dividing the radius of the wheel by that of the axle.

MA=R/r where R is the radius of the wheel and r is the radius of the axle.

Substituting for the values in the question gives:

MA=26cm/0.8cm

    =32.5

What is the force of gravity acting on a 1-kg m mass? (g = 9.8 m/s ^ 2)
Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer: Use this F=Ma.

Explanation: So your answer will be

F=1 Kg+9.8 ms-2

So the answer will be

F=9.8N

How'd I do this?

I just used Newton's second law of motion.

I'll also put the derivation just in case.

Applied force α (Not its alpha, proportionality symbol) change in momentum

Δp α p final- p initial

Δp α mv-mu (v=final velocity, u=initial velocity and p=v*m)

or then

F α m(v-u)/t

So, as we know v=final velocity & u= initial velocity and v-u/t =a.

So F α ma, we now remove the proportionality symbol so we'll add a proportionality constant to make the RHS & LHS equal.

So, F=kma (where k is the proportionality constant)

k is 1 so you can ignore it.

So, our equation becomes F=ma
