Answer: The medication that may be contributing to Mrs. Swenson’s cognitive impairment is METOPROLOL (LOPRESSOR).

Explanation:

Mrs Swenson recognized her own cognitive decits and discussed them with her primary care provider. After performing a comprehensive assessment, the PMHNP diagnoses the patient with VASCULAR

DEMENTIA. The medication that may be contributing to Mrs. Swenson’s cognitive impairment is METOPROLOL (LOPRESSOR).

Metoprolol is a nonpsychotropic drug which is a selective beta blocker used in lowering blood pressure in order to prevent heart attacks, stroke and kidney problems. It's usually marketed under the trade name LOPRESSOR. Being an elderly patients who is at risk of High blood pressure, it must have been prescribed from the PCP.

Prolonged use of METOPROLOL has the ability to damage the blood vessels of the brain leading to a condition known as VASCULAR DEMENTIA which causes cognitive impairment. I hope this helps, thanks.
