Any change in motion (direction or speed) is a change in velocity.
Velocity is a vector quantity which means that it has a magnitude and a direction.

Speed, being a scalar quantity, is the rate at which an object covers distance. The average speed is the distance (a scalar quantity) per time ratio. Speed is ignorant of direction. ... The average velocity is the displacement or position change (a vector quantity) per time ratio.

-Velocity is the speed of any moving object in a given direction, whilst Speed is the rate of an object's ability to move.
-Velocity can change if the direction or time is changed, the basic equation of velocity is: v = d/t
v - velocity
d - distance
t - time
If one of these factors change, it affects the other.

You are heading toward an island in your speed boat when you see a friend standing on the shore of the island. You sound the boa
monitta

Answer:

Greater than

Explanation:

The Wavelength will be higher than what will be heard without any motion on the boat due to the Doppler Effect, which is the change in the frequency of a sound wave whenever there's a relative motion between the source of the wave and observer. The amount of shift in frequency depends on the speed of the source towards the observer; the higher the velocity of the source, the higher the shift.

A ceiling fan is turned on and reaches an angular speed of 132 rev/min in 20 s. It is then turned off and coasts to a stop in an
Mkey [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

α = (ωf - ωi)/t

acceleration phase

ωf = 132 rev/min (2π rad/rev / 60 s/min) = 4.4π rad/s

α₁ = (4.4π - 0)/20 = 0.22π rad/s²

α₂ = (0 - 4.4π)/40 = - 0.11π rad/s²

α₁/α₂ = 0.22π/- 0.11π = -2

A hot-air balloon is rising upward with a constant speed of 2.51 m/s. When the balloon is 3.16 m above the ground, the balloonis
icang [17]

Answer:

  t = 1.099 s

Explanation:

given,

constant speed = 2.51 m/s

height of balloon above ground = 3.16 m

time elapsed before it hit the ground = ?

Applying equation of motion to the compass

y = u t + \dfrac{1}{2}at^2

-3.16 = 2.51 t + \dfrac{1}{2}\times (-9.8)t^2

4.9 t^2 - 2.51 t - 3.16 = 0

using quadratic formula to solve the equation

t = \dfrac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

t = \dfrac{-(-2.51)\pm \sqrt{2.51^2-4(4.9)(-3.16)}}{2\times 4.9}

  t = 1.099 s, -0.586 s

hence, the time elapses before the compass hit the ground is equal to 1.099 s.
