owers, Maria makes 3 paper flowers. When they stop for the day, together they have made 45 paper flowers. On the second day, Maria and Emily both start at 1:15 P.M. and make paper flowers together at the same rates as the day before. They both work until there is a total of 100 flowers, including the flowers from the first day. At what time do Maria and Emily stop working on the second day?

Okay, this is a proportion question. they make 45 flowers every 1 hour and 25 minutes, or 45/85(85 is equivalent to 1 hour and 25 minutes). and they made 100 flowers at the same rate as the first day. so you need to know how long it took them to make 100 flowers, if they make 45 every 85 minutes. so 45 (flowers) to 85 (minutes) = 100 (flowers) to x (minutes). or 45/85=100/x. so when you work that out, I came to 189 minutes, which is 3 hours and 9 minutes, so they stopped at 4:24. But you could round and get 4:25. Hope I didn't confuse you!

Prove that √2 is an irrational number and hence show that 3+5√3 is also irrational
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

square rooted numbers like the square root of 2 are irrational because when calculated they don't equal a whole number.

Step-by-step explanation:

3+5√3 = 11.66   // not whole - irrational

√2 =  1.4 // not whole - irrational

√25 = 5 // whole - rational

The diagram shows a circle inside a semicircle.
rjkz [21]

A circle inside a semicircle is depicted in the diagram. The circle measures 10 cm in diameter. The semicircle has a 20 cm diameter. Calculate the shaded area. Give a precise response to the nearest decimal point.

The area of the shaded region is 39.3cm^{2}.

Given the diagram shows a circle inside a semicircle.

Every point in the plane of a circle, which is a closed, two-dimensional object, is evenly separated from the center. All lines that cross the circle join together to produce the line of reflection symmetry. Every angle also possesses rotational symmetry about its center.

Area of a circle = \pi r^{2}.

Semicircle is when a line travelling through the center of a circle reaches its two ends, a semicircle is created. Thus, a circle can be formed by combining two semicircles.

Area of a semicircle = \frac{1}{2} \pi r^{2}.

The circle has a diameter of 10 cm. The semicircle has a diameter of 20 cm.

Semicircle:

r_{1}=\frac{d_{1} }{2}=\frac{20}{2}=10cm\\S_{1}=\frac{ \pi r_{1}^{2}  }{2}   =\frac{ \pi \times 10^{2}  }{2} =50\pi cm^{2}

Circle:

r_{2}=\frac{d_{2} }{2}=\frac{10}{2}=5cm\\S_{2}=\pi r_{2}^{2}   = \pi \times 5^{2}  =25\pi cm^{2}

So,

S=\frac{S_{1} -S_{2}}{2} \\S=\frac{50\pi -25\pi}{2}\\S=\frac{25\pi}{2} \\S=39.3cm^{2}

Therefore, The area of the shaded region is 39.3cm^{2}.
