A math instructor assigns a group project in each of the scenarios below, the instructor selects 5 consecutive students from thi

s class, keeping track (in order) of the level of the student that he gets.
a. How many possible outcomes are in the sample space S? (An outcome is a 5tuple of students.) Let A2 denote the event that exactly 2 of the selected students are sophomore, A5 denote the event that exactly 5 of the selected students are the juniors, and A4 denote the event that exactly 4 of the selected students are seniors.

Complete question:

Consider a class of 20 students consisting of 5 sophomores, 8 juniors, and 7 seniors. A math instructor assigns a group project in each of the scenarios below, the instructor selects 5 consecutive students from this class, keeping track (in order) of the level of the student that he gets.

1a. How many possible outcomes are in the sample space S? (An outcome is a 5- tuple of students.)

Let A2 denote the event that exactly 2 of the selected students are sophomore, A5 denote the event that exactly 5 of the selected students are the juniors, and A4 denote the event that exactly 4 of the selected students are seniors.

1b. Find the probabilities of each of these three events. A2, A5, A4

1c. Do the events A2, A5, A4 constitute a partition of the sample space?

Answer:

Given:

n = 20

a) The possible outcome in the sample space,S, =

ⁿCₓ = ²⁰C₅

= \frac{20!}{(20-5)! 5!)}

= \frac{20*19*18*17*16}{5*4*3*2*1}

= 15504

b) probabilities of A2, A5, A4

P(A2) = ⁵C₂ / ²⁰C₂

= \frac{20}{320} = \frac{1}{19}

P(A5) = ⁸C₅ / ²⁰C₅

= \frac{56}{15540} = \frac{7}{1938}

P(A4) = ⁷C₄ / ²⁰C₄

= \frac{35}{4845} = \frac{7}{969}

c) No,the events A2, A5, A4, do not comstitute a partition of the sample space. i.e P(A2)+P(A5)+P(A4) ≠ 1

Which table shows the reflection of f(x) across the y-axis? HELP ASAP!!
tangare [24]

Answer:

The first one

Step-by-step explanation:

When you do a reflection across the y-axis, it is like a mirror. And if you have a generic point (x, y) the new point will be (-x, y).

In the table you have 4 points:

(x,y)

(-3,9)

(0,0)

(2,4)

(5,25)

The new points will be:

(3,9)

(0,0)

(-2,4)

(-5,25)

What is 0.66666666666 as a fraction
stellarik [79]

To turn 0.(6)=0.6666... into a fraction you should do such steps:

1 step. Set up an equation by representing the repeating decimal with a variable. Using your example, you will let x represent the repeating decimal 0.(6), so you have x=0.666... .

2 step. Identify how many digits are in the repeating pattern, or n digits. Multiply both sides of the equation from Step 1 by 10^n to create a new equation. Again, using your example, you see that the repeating pattern consists of just one digit: 6. Now multiply both sides of the equation by 10^1 = 10. Thus, you have 10x = 10 \cdot 0.666... or 10x = 6.666.....

3 step. Subtract the equation in Step 1 from the equation in Step 2. Notice that when we subtract these equations, our repeating pattern drops off. Therefore, 10x-x=6.666...-0.666...\\ 9x=6.

4 step. You now have an equation that you can solve for x and simplify as much as possible, using x as a fraction: 9x = 6. If you divide both sides by 9, you get x=\dfrac{6}{9}. When simplified, you get that x=\dfrac{2}{3}.

Answer: 0.(6)=0.666... =\dfrac{2}{3}.

Pls help with number one
LenaWriter [7]
A) You can drop hammer and a feather, both will reach ground at the same time ( it was actually done in Apollo mission)

b) i. Yes, it is similar to weightlessness experienced by astronauts

ii. The phenomenon of "weightlessness" occurs when there is no force of support on your body. When your body is effectively in "free fall" in roller coaster, accelerating downward at the acceleration of gravity, then you are not being supported.
Just like astronauts in space feel no force of support that we on earth feel due to gravity.

What is the mean of the values in the stem-and-leaf plot? Enter your answer in the box. also guess what flag that is
Vesnalui [34]
Mean is the average....so you add all the numbers and then divide by how many numbers there were.

12 + 13 + 15 + 28 + 28 +30 + 42 = 168

since there are 7 numbers, you divide 168 by 7.

168/7 = 24

Therefore, 24 is the mean.

The flag is Japan I believe.

Hope this helps!
