In step 3, when you combine the two terms, square them, and square root them, the squaring and square rooting messes everything up.  Lets see what the right side is equal to throughout.
4- \frac{9}{2}  + \frac{9}{2} = 4
\frac{9}{2}+ 4- \frac{9}{2}=4
Now, since the \frac{9}{2} isn't going to change value throughout the whole problem, lets simply look at the other two numbers on that side.
4- \frac{9}{2}=-.5
\sqrt{(4- \frac{9}{2})^{2} } = \sqrt{ (-0.5)^{2} } = \sqrt{0.25 }=0.5 \ or -0.5
In this step, the process of squaring and square rooting takes the number from -0.5 and turns it into 0.5.  Since square roots are either positive or negative, this proof squares and square roots the initial number, allowing the value to be changed from the value we started with.  Thus, instead of picking the -0.5, which makes the statement true, the proof uses the number 1 larger, 0.5.  This is a very sneakily hidden way to increase the value of the number by one.

This is actually one of the smartest and the second hardest false proofs I have ever attempted to disprove.  Only one has been harder to solve, and I am yet to solve it.  I enjoyed the challenge!

Hope this was the answer you were looking for!

What is the approximate volume of the cone?
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

A. 1206 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

We have a cone and are asked to find the approximate volume of it.

Keep in mind we are using π for 3.14

The forumla of a cone is V = πr²\frac{h}{3}

We know the radius = 12

and the height = 8

Substitute :

V = π12²\frac{8}{3}

Since these are multiplied with each other, we can first start off with multiplying the fraction, including with factoring 12²:

V = \frac{2^4*3^2*8\pi }{3}

Cancel the common factor - 3 :

V = 2^4 * 8 * 3\pi

Multiply 8 and 3π :

V = 2^4 * 24\pi

Solve the exponent :

V = 16 * 24\pi

Multiply :

V = 384\pi

Multiply for the final answer :

1205.76 cm³

which can be rounded up to

A. 1206 cm³

Find f(x)=x^2-x^3,find f(-10)
Elanso [62]

Answer:

Value of f(-10) is 1100

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that f(x) = x² - x³

Here we need to find f(-10).

 f(-10) =  (-10)² - (-10)³

 f(-10) = 100 - (-1000)

 f(-10) = 100 + 1000

 f(-10) = 1100

Value of f(-10) is 1100
