Returning once again to our table top example of a horizontal mass on a low-friction surface with m = 0.254 kg and k = 10.0 N/m

with damping characterized by y = 0.628 (1/s). If Fo = 0.5 N, calculate A and d for the following values of w: 0.628 rad/s, 3.14 rad/s, 6.28 rad/s, and 9.42 rad/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass = 0.254 kg

Spring constant [tex[\omega_{0}= 10.0\ N/m[/tex]

Force = 0.5 N

y = 0.628

We need to calculate the A and d

Using formula of A and d

A=\dfrac{\dfrac{F_{0}}{m}}{\sqrt{(\omega_{0}^2-\omega^{2})^2+y^2\omega^2}}.....(I)

tan d=\dfrac{y\omega}{(\omega^2-\omega^2)}....(II)

Put the value of \omega=0.628\ rad/s in equation (I) and (II)

A=\dfrac{\dfrac{0.5}{0.254}}{\sqrt{(10.0^2-0.628)^2+0.628^2\times0.628^2}}

A=0.0198

From equation (II)

tan d=\dfrac{0.628\times0.628}{((10.0^2-0.628)^2)}

d=0.0023

Put the value of \omega=3.14\ rad/s in equation (I) and (II)

A=\dfrac{\dfrac{0.5}{0.254}}{\sqrt{(10.0^2-3.14)^2+0.628^2\times3.14^2}}

A=0.0203

From equation (II)

tan d=\dfrac{0.628\times3.14}{((10.0^2-3.14)^2)}

d=0.0120

Put the value of \omega=6.28\ rad/s in equation (I) and (II)

A=\dfrac{\dfrac{0.5}{0.254}}{\sqrt{(10.0^2-6.28)^2+0.628^2\times6.28^2}}

A=0.0209

From equation (II)

tan d=\dfrac{0.628\times6.28}{((10.0^2-6.28)^2)}

d=0.0257

Put the value of \omega=9.42\ rad/s in equation (I) and (II)

A=\dfrac{\dfrac{0.5}{0.254}}{\sqrt{(10.0^2-9.42)^2+0.628^2\times9.42^2}}

A=0.0217

From equation (II)

tan d=\dfrac{0.628\times9.42}{((10.0^2-9.42)^2)}

d=0.0413

Hence, This is the required solution.

What is the unit for electrical power?
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

The answer is Watt

Explanation:

Electricity is measured in Watts and kilowatts

Electricity is measured in units of power called Watts, named to honor James Watt, the inventor of the steam engine. A Watt is the unit of electrical power equal to one ampere under the pressure of one volt. One Watt is a small amount of power.

A 65 N boy sits on a sled weighing 52 N on a horizontal surface. The coefficient of friction between the sled and the snow is 0.
pogonyaev

Answer:

1.40 N

Explanation:

The magnitude of the frictional force is given by:

F=\mu N

where

\mu is the coefficient of friction

N is the magnitude of the normal reaction

The coefficient of friction for this problem is \mu=0.012. The magnitude of the normal reaction is equal to the combined weight of the boy and the sled, because the surface is horizontal, so

N=65 N+52 N=117 N

Therefore, the frictional force is

F=\mu N=(0.012)(117 N)=1.40 N

Pick a small appliance in your home that you use regularly and look up on the internet how much power it operates at. Using the
mestny [16]

Answer:

Estimate money spent on the appliance( 9 Watt bulb ) on a monthly basis is $0.7776

Explanation:

Given the data in the question;

we are to pick  a small appliance in our home that we use regularly and look up on the internet how much power it operates at;

so lets consider a 9 Watt bulb

Power p = 9 Watt

Household Voltage = 120 v

we know that; Power = Current I × Voltage V

so,

9 = I × 120

I = 9 / 120

I = 0.075 A

Resistance;

R = V / I

R = 120 / 0.075

R = 1600 Ω

Now, Energy consumed in 1 month(30 days) will be;

E = P × Τ

E = ( 9 / 1000kW ) × ( 30 × 24hrs )

E = 0.009 × 720 hrs

E = 6.48 kWh

Now, the cost for one month will be;

Cost = 6.48 × $0.12

Cost = $0.7776

Therefore, estimate money spent on the appliance( 9 Watt bulb ) on a monthly basis is $0.7776

Ilya and Anya each can run at a speed of 8.30 mph and walk at a speed of 3.30 mph . They set off together on a route of length 5
anygoal [31]
For Anya:v 1 = 3.3 mph,   v 2 = 8.3 mph5 : 2 = 2.5 mi ( half of the distance )
t1= d/v1 = 2.5 mi/ 3.3 mph = 0.7576 ht2 = d/v2 = 2.5 mi/8.3 mph = 0.3 hIn total: 0.7576 + 0.3 = 1.0576 hFor Ilya: 8.3 t / 2 + 3.3 t / 2 = 5   / * 28.3 t + 3.3 t = 1011.6 t = 10t = 10 : 11.6t = 0.86 hHe covers the distance for 0.86 h.His average speed:v = 5/0.86 = 5.81 mph.
