Given the following list of antibiotics and their targets, explain how each stops bacteria without harming human cells. Base you

r analyses on the differences between eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Considering the targets of these antibiotics, explain why antibiotics in general would not be useful for treating a viral infection.
Antibiotic

Target

Penicillin

Blocks cell wall synthesis

Tetracycline

Blocks protein synthesis by binding to the 30S Unit of the ribosome

Chloramphenicol

Blocks protein synthesis by binding to the 50S Unit of the ribosome

Sulfonamides

Inhibit folic acid synthesis

Vancomycin

Blocks cross-linking of the peptidoglycan in the cell wall

Answer:

Antibiotics cannot be used for the treatment of viral infection because cellular architecture of both virus and bacteria are very much different with respect to each other.

Explanation:

Antibiotics target various physiological process of bacteria such as cell wall synthesis, assembly of ribosomal subunit, folic acid synthesis, cross linking of peptides to the peptidoglycan of the cell wall.

But if we study the viral cell we will found that virus neither contain cell wall nor ribosomes and viral metabolites are very simple in comparison to that of bacteria. That"s why antibiotic cannot be used for the treatment of viral infection.

Antibiotics wil unable to find any target in viral cell to exert its function.

vekshin1

Answer:

Any process that involves active transport most often involves the expenditure of energy in the form of ATP hydrolysis.

Explanation:

Active transport in cells is a form of transport which involves the transport of solute molecules across a membrane against a concentration gradient using energy provided from some chemical reaction occuring in the cell.

Active transport is an endergonic (energy-requiring) process and therefore, must proceed only when coupled to an exergonic (energy-releasing) process such as the breakdown of ATP, an oxidation reaction, absorption of sunlight, etc.

In many instances in cell, such as the Na/K pump, ATP hydrolysis is the the common exergonic reaction to which active transport is coupled to.

Which have scientists learned from studying seismic waves that travel through earth’s interior?
DENIUS [597]
D. They have learned the precise depths where the boundaries between the earth's layers are located.

The overwhelming amount of seismic activity particularly happens along convergent plate boundaries. In particular, reverse or thrust faults occurs on convergent plate boundaries.Converging plate boundaries are classified into two types of activities.First is the subduction boundary where the oceanic lithosphere is pressured beneath a continental plate or oceanic plate thus it overrides the other plate then slowly directed to the mantle where it will become a magma. Second is the collisional boundary where earthquakes occur because of the continental crust squeezed together then plates are pushed upwards.Reverse faults are correlated to earthquakes with magnitude of 8 or more.Hence, earthquakes of magnitude 8 or more are considered powerful and mega thrust earthquakes.

Why insect mouth part is important for insect pest control?
Maslowich

Answer:

Insects with rasping/sucking mouthparts actually rasps or scrapes the surface of plant tissue (such as leaves or petals) and sucks up the fluids that ooze from the damaged area of tissue. Examples of pests with rasping-sucking mouthparts include thrips and mites. Thrips prefer to feed on succulent plant tissues.

Humans have 23 pairs of chromosome in every body cell. Even one extra chromosome causes death or serious disorders. For example,
tamaranim1 [39]

Explanation:

In the majority of cases, the extra copy of chromosome 21 comes from the mother in the egg.

In a small percentage (less than 5%) of cases, the extra copy of chromosome 21 comes from the father through the sperm.

In the remaining cases, the error occurs after fertilization, as the embryo grows.
