Chemistry

Explanation:

Polarity is defined as the development of partial charges on the atoms of a molecule. In a water molecule, there are hydrogen and oxygen atoms.

Due to the difference in electronegativity of both hydrogen and oxygen atom there is development of partial positive charge on hydrogen atom and a partial negative charge on oxygen atom.

Dipole-dipole interactions are defined as the interactions that occur when partial positive charge on an atom is attracted by partial negative charge on another atom.

So, when Na^{+} is attracted towards H_{2}O then this attraction is due to dipole-dipole interaction taking place between the sodium ion and water molecules.

Thus, we can conclude that when NaCl dissolves in water, aqueous Na^{+} and Cl^{-} ions result. The force of attraction that exists between Na^{+} and H_{2}O is called a dipole-dipole interaction.

Consider the reaction hc2h3o2(aq) h2o(l) → h3o (aq) c2h3o2–(aq). Which species is the conjugate acid?a. C2h3o2-(aq)b. H2o(l)c. H
saul85 [17]

The species that is the conjugate acid is HC₂H₃O₂(aq). The correct option is d.

What are conjugate acid?

Conjugates acids are those acids which are made when an acid donates a proton to a base according to Bronsted Lowry theory.

In other words, we can say that it is an acid with hydrogen ion. An example is water (base) reacting with an acid to form the hydronium ion (conjugate acid).

Thus, the correct option is d, HC₂H₃O₂(aq).
