Solve the following equation for y.
x-5y=-18

olganol [36]

Answer:

y=15x+185

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Add -x to both sides.

x−5y+−x=−18+−x

−5y=−x−18

Step 2: Divide both sides by -5.

−5y−5=−x−18−5

y=15x+185

How do i take the square root of a number?
OLEGan [10]
If it's a perfect square, then it's easy. However, if it's not a perfect square, use the square root button on your calculator. IF you happen to know calculus then you could use Newton's Method....but I'm thinking you're not there yet. So stick with the calculator.

Use an identity to solve the equation on the interval [0,2pi) sin x cos x = -1/4 x=
dolphi86 [110]

Answer:

The solution of the given equation is    x = 105 °∈ ( 0 , 2pi)

Step-by-step explanation:

Step(i):-

Given equation is sin x cos x = -1/4

                           2(2sinxcosx) = -1

we know that trigonometry formula

                             2 sin x  cos x = sin 2x

                            2 ( sin 2 x) = -1

                                sin2x = -1/2

Step(ii):-

                            sin2x =    \frac{-1}{2} = sin (\pi +\frac{\pi}{6}

                  sin2x = sin 210

                       2x = 7π/6

                       2x = 210°

                                x = 105 °

The solution of the given equation is    x = 105 °∈ ( 0 , 2pi)
