Drug tolerance can simply be defined as the decreasing effects of a drug on a person continuously using it. Over time, the body becomes adapted to a certain dose of a drug. The person further has to take more heavy doses for the drug to work.  Drug tolerance can be very dangerous for a person as an increased amount of dose can lead to serious illness and even cause death.

The tolerance to drugs is categorized into two types:
